WHO MANUFACTURES THE ENGINES FOR NH, AND ARE THEY RELIABLE, OR AT LEAST COMPARABLE TO THE OTHER MAJOR BRANDS?

I believe Shibaura makes the complete tractor.
I just bought a 94 model 1220 with 2700 hours on it, and it runs great. One
thing it does when its 32 degrees or lower, the hydro makes noise in high gear on and off.
I had the dealer do a pressure test every things ok, he said I happen to have a noisy one, thats my luck.

i bought a 1210 in 1985.ran it hard for 1400 hours before i traded it for a kubota(what a mistake that was.)i never had one problem with the 1210.i was ready for a change, that was the only reason i traded.kept the orange headache for 3 years and traded for a boomer.i can tell you that the boomer's are built in georgia by NH,but i don't know the manufacture of the engines or tranys.good luck.

Thanks for the input. I had a Kubota B7100 and it was a little tank. I would have kept it but it was just too small. I traded for a green one the dealer swore would do the job, but it turns out it's just a bit underpowered and light for my impending use. The blue and red are close in price but it is a hard choice between them.

Tom is right, the "Boomers" are basiclly Shibaura motors and running gear just like the Ford/New Holland 1200 through 2100's since 1980's. NH had a TC35D at the National Farm Machinary Show in Louisville that ends today. They are launching 3 more higher horsepower series;35,40 and 45 alias TC35,TC40 and TC45. The TC35D,TC40D andTC45D are the hydrostatic versions(the'D' doesn't stand for deisel). The 35 hp. is 3 cyl., the 40 and 45 4 cylinder. These new Boomers are evolved 1920 and 2120's. These tractors all had independent power steering pumps."Supersteer" is an optional 4 mfwd axle that cuts the turning radius by turning the axle as well as turning the wheels.
At the show JD did not have the the new front wheel drive axles on the displayed 4200.
