 4300 with 300x or 300cx FEL

I am going to make an offer on a used 4300. I was told both loaders (300x & cx)are quick-tatch loader, and 300cx is made for more heavy duty work. I just need a FEL for light manure, dirt-work, and the 300x will cost under $3000 and the 300cx costs $3700. Does anyone have any experience with these FEL's? Are these good prices? The 300x also has a longer reach for dumping into a wagon, or pickup, and it has a quicker lower and raise time. With my limited use, I feel the 300x might be the best bang for the buck. As long as it attaches the same. May offer $12750 for 2000 4300/hydro/4wd/690 hrs.

The 300 series loaders are fairly new so I'm not sure many people here have them. If you can find a good price on the older 430 loader it's a workhorse. Not sure how the specs compare, I'll have to stop by the JD dealer to pick up some new sales brochures. I think the 300 series loaders have the curved arms which may not look quite right with the 4300 tractor. I haven't seen that setup yet but if you buy be sure to post some pics!

I would suggest you talk to your dealer and have him call around to some other dealers to coordinate transfering in a 430 FEL if he does currently have one in stock. As Ken said, they are good solid FEL's and originally designed for your 4300. Chances are your dealer may be able to find an "new old stock" (NOS) 430 FEL for a better price that will do all your 4300 can handle. In any case; I strongly recommend that you go with the heaviest duty FEL made for your 4300. Less chance to over load it and I am sure you will find more uses for it as you own it.

The same dealer has a 4200 with 430 FEL. I made a suggestion about buying the loader off that tractor and the dealer said the labor to remove that loader would be pricey. Heck, it is 4 bolts on each side, plus the grill guard. I may make an offer of $2k for the used 430 anyway. It is in great shape. I saw a 4000 series tractor on ebay with a 300cx loader, and it looked good. More modern. I hope the dealer will sell the 4300 for $13k. I feel that is 15% off list price (listed at $15000).

If the 4300 doesn't already have loader hydraulics and controls installed it's a lot more work than just 4 bolts each side.

I bought the 300cx with my 4310 last year, and am very happy with it. When I bought it, I was like you, believeing I only needed a FEL for light-duty work. The dealer gave me a good deal on the 300cx (3k-3.5k I believe). I am very glad I decided on the more heavy-duty FEL. I use it for everything... and probabl some things I shouldn't.... but I've never regretted the upgrade.

Thanks for the info. I was quoted $3000 for 300x/61"bucket and $3500 for 300cx. I would have to install the FEL. The hydraulics and controls are already on the tractor. I have a hard time paying an extra $500 since the loader will mainly be for light grading/landscaping/manure. I offered $13300 for the 2000 JD 4300 with 600 hrs, and the dealer was disappointed, and wants around $14500. Tractor is in excellent shape and the dealer offers great service. Unsure if I will end up with this unit.
