 2210 or 4000 series?

I'm looking at the 2210 series as an upgrade/consolidation from my JD318 and Ford 8n.

I mow 2 acres, would like to expand that to 3+, and want an easily removed FEL and backblade/brush hog ability.

The 2210 is nice and compact, but will it handle my needs? Or should I be looking at maybe a 4000 series (might ned used to stay in budget).

How long have the 2210 and 4000 series been produced, and how is their history?

Thanks for any ideas thoughts you might be able to share.

-AJS

The 2210 is one heck of a tractor -- a friend and fellow-poster likes to say it has "attitude". I can't imagine a circumstance where it would run out of power. For mowing, the 62C is a great performer. It also comes on and off in mere minutes. The 210 loader (rare now that the 200CX is out) has been documented to lift waaay more than the 620 rated lbs. It also comes on and off in mere minutes. For 3 acres, it should do a fantastic job. Now as for the 4xxx series, I'm not knocking them, bigger is always better...right!

 2210 or 4000 series?

I've had a 2210 for just over a year on my five acres. While I do not use it to mow (not enough grass - yet) I do have the loader, box blade, rake, snowblower, and tiller. It has performed flawlessly for me. It is small enough to get around on my wooded lot and I've moved over 70 yards of topsoil fill with it in the last 2 months without a problem. It's fun to drive yet powerful. I've been pleased.

What are the advantages of a 2210 over my 4110? Other than price or the need for a smaller rig I can't see what. The extra advertised HP we all know is bogus...so what is it?

There is no advantage other than the price.

The 4110 has a better 3 point hitch, better tires, more FEL lift capacity and can take a backhoe.

The 2210 also has a lower center of gravity, so for slopes that "might" be an advantage. My previous CUT was a 755 which is comparable to the 4110/4115. I felt that was too large for my needs, and the 2210 seems sized "right". Both are great tractors.

Cheers

exactly, and when is FEL capacity ever enough. I have been moving stumps and mine is constantly maxed out hydraulically, but it moved every stump I needed so far. Anything less just could not have done it. The better tires are important to me. The larger the diameter, the smoother the ride and the bigger obstacles and holes you can run over. If your yard is smooth, no problem although there is less footprint on a smaller diameter and thus more PSI, rutting etc. 3 point hitch again, easier to find implements if it is just a regular 3 point.
