The rule of thumb seems to be 10-20% off MSRP is generally the best you can do on a new machine. The JD website has MSRP so you can figure it out from there. There is another website, www dot midlawns dot com, that seems to have some discount pricing you can use as a sanity check. I'm not endorsing midlawns since I know nothing about them.

Thanks, I have also been told that 10% over cost would be a good deal. However, I haven't been able to find cost. I know they need to make a living, I just don't want to pay for all of their overhead with the purchase of my tractor. Again, thanks for your reply.

Go to Link
Select commercial

In the 3000 & 4000 drop down select 4120 or 4320
Select continue next to drop down.

You should be able to see MSRP in the upper left hand corner.

Yes, thanks for your replies. I already knew about the configurator, I just want to find out what is the bottom price. I have a bid at $24,450 for the 4120 with the 400x heavy duty 73" bucket. I would still like to get down another $1,500 or so. I would help if I knew the dealer price and was hoping some one out there would possibly have that information. I have a 4310 with 430 loader and a 48 backhoe. Already a Deere fan, just looking for the best possible price on a new one. Again, thanks for your replies.

No dealer should ever tell you their cost, that is just bad buisness. If you can get someone to bite on that price for the 4120, go for it. Just keep in mind, its not just overhead, The setup of the machine, and delivery, plus all the time the salesman spent with you factor in to cost. Plus us tractor dealers don't work like car dealerships, We don't get huge kickbacks from corprate. And our models change ever few years, not every year. Priceing also depends on your location. CA is higher due to workers Comp laws and labor costs, other states can be lower. Just keep in mind that if you buy out of state to avoid sales tax, dealers won't just turn you in, but if the man comes knocking we can't lie.
