Having a problem with the starter. The battery is good and charged.
The solenoid will click but nothing happens. I tried jumping across the solenoid and it clicks but doesn't turn the starter.
To describe what I have is a belt drive starter that looks like an old type generator mounted on top of the engine.
Can I jump the starter without going through the solenoid. I see two heavy duty wires going to the starter. One black and one red. Will I mess something up by applying 12 volts direct to the starter. If it is OK that should tell me if it is the starter or not.
The Gator started, I dove it, shut it off and that was it. Starter would not work after that.
