John Deere Gator electrical problem

Gator 4x2 new battery and starter will start fine at times other times i have power. no headlights and the hr meter does nothing. Lost at what to check.

Mack, i would start with looking at your fuse box. Have yopu power washed around here recently? If electrics come and go like this its normally a loose connection or coroded connection. Pull the fuses one at a time, clean them and put them back. After that you could try phsically playing with the back of the ignition switch with it swicthed on, does the hour meter flick on/off when you move the plug on the back of the ignition switch? if yes, remove and clean these connections. ....

No the hour meter stays blank when it does this. Ive check fuses and cleaned battery connections and checked all the other connections from battery to ign mod to ignition. ....

lol, i have a similar thing with one of mine but i think the hour meter still works. Have a google for a wiring diagram i found one and i suspct i have a problem with either a swicth on the transmission or a swicth on the handbrake which stops you starting unless in neautral and handbark on. To be honest i hadn't noticied if the hour meter was working or not. See if you can find a iring diagram and then look at what i am talking about and if it makes sense or not. ....

Entire electrical system does not work

· Blown fuse.

· Loose or corroded connections.
