Hi all,

I just purchased a 1996 diesel gator, nice workhorse! My neighbor has a gas model, 1995, and it seems to travel much faster than my diesel, any comments as to why? drivebelt and clutch seem to be operating normally.

thanks in advance for your comments!

He could have an updated 18 MPH clutch on his. Both models came with the 15.5 MPH unit and you still may have the old one on yours. To tell the difference, the stationary sheave on the 15.5 MPH version is smaller than the movable sheave. 18 MPH models have both sheaves the same diameter. ....

thanks for the input! The stationary sheave measures 11" and the movable sheave @ 8.5". The 18mph clutch is @380.00 ouch! I can run a little slower for awhile. ....
