I have heard that sometimes friction supply houses can rebuild clutch components. Or maybe they can refer you to someone who can rebuild yours. Wouldn't hurt to call and ask. ....

That price is about right. JDparts lists the updated clutch assy. for $1501.82 under part # AM878710. The they can give you about 5% off of parts if they really want your business. You may be able to get a remanufactured clutch assy. for a little less. Maybe around $1,000 to $1,200. ....

It seems pricing for a lot of spare parts are way out of whack and it's not just JD. I just paid $280 for an ignition coil for our Taurus SHO. Sure, it's more complex than the coils of old but that's just nuts. I'm beginning to think you're better off financially to bargain hard and buy extended warranties, then when they run out to trade in and buy new again. ....

Have you checked the Yanmar pricing? The tractor they sold here was almost identical to the 1050. ....
