I have a John Deere 160 lawn tractor (c.1987) that I am having a problem with. I set the height of the blades using the height adjusment lever and lower the deck to start cutting. Any time I go over a bump, the deck drops down to the lowest level and I end up scalping the lawn. I noticed that the spring for the height adjustment lever is either disconnected or broken, but I can't figure out where the two ends should be connected to. The manual shows me the spring but not the connecting points. Does anyone have a picture of this sub-assembly or know where I can find one? I emailed the J.D. web site and they told me to contact my local dealer. Not exactly what I was hoping for. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
