New to this forum, bought a nortrac 254 with a yangdong 385 that was sitting for a few years, drained the diesel, changed the fuel filter, cranks over, all valves moving under the valve cover, primed the fuel system, get white puffs out the muffler, but won't start. when you hold the switch to heat the glow plugs the meter goes to the left to 30 and comes back to 15, but won't go any higher no matter how long you hold it. Do i have 1 or 2 bad glow plugs? Any way to test without pulling them?

Did you crack the fuel line to each injector till fuel comes out solid (no bubbles) while turning it over then re-tighten and move to the next one?
Glo plugs shouldn't be an issue this time of the year. ....

Got her running today.thanks. Got a few small things to fix. Definitely took a lot of cranking to get the air out after not running for a few years. But yes bleeding the lines at tthe injectors helped. ....

Not to shabby for an $850 tractor. Running and driving after sitting for atleast 2years according to the old man I purchased it from. . Everything seems to be working now, Pto, loader, 4wd, 3 point lift. Just need to fix lights and change some fluids and flush the radiator. Even the temp Guage is working. I'm waiting to see the original hour meter move off 30. ....
