The PO managed to cut many wires on this tractor. Since it is also known a an Allis Chalmers 5020, I do have the AC manual.

The PO also cut the wire that runs to the idiot light that connects to the alternator.

My questions are this:

1) The manual shows a resistor and a diode in the wiring. What is the resistor's value?

2) Does the Hitachi alternator require the idiot light as an "exciter" to make the alternator begin to charge?

Thanks!

UPDATE: ALL FIXED

I found a local supplier and was able to get a Mitsubishi exact fit alternator.

It does have to have a functioning idiot light to "turn on" the alternator.

Now charging at 14.2 volts. ....
