I HAVE A TG1860G CAS MOWER THAT WANTS TO VAPORLOCK ON HOT DAYS. IT NEVER OVER-HEATS BUT WHEN CUTTING HEAVY PASTURE ON WARM DAYS IT HAS A HARD TIME. IT HAS A NEW FUEL FILTER AND I BLOW THE RAD AND ENGINE OFF WITH AIR REGULARLY. CRAPPY GAS OR DO I NEED A FUEL PUMP, OR DOES THIS MODEL EVEN HAVE A FUEL PUMP.

Nels, there is no feul pump, and probably little need for one either, IF everything is as it should be. I would bet the culprit is one of only two possibilities, 1) you have a little obstruction in the fuel system somewhere (lines, tank, filter) which is restricting flow, or 2) the vented cap is no longer venting, this is causing vacuum in the tank and slowing flow, causing the vapour lock. A couple of other problems that can be heat-sensitive are: Bad spark coil or missing heat-shield. New mufflers are sometimes put on B/S riding mower engines minus the heat shield between the muffler and carb, or with the deflector in the wrong direction. I don't know if that's possible on this tractor, but that will create a vapour lock on B/S engines. The bad coil when it gets hot may be mostly a historic problem (Ford N-series tractors are known for bad coils). Never the less the spark should be fat and blue even when the engine is 'vapour-locked'.
