 Finish mowers

I'm interested in a Landpride finish mower with rear discharge. Will an air-tunnel mower do a better job in relation to the price difference and do air-tunnel mowers come in rear discharge? Any experiences? I have approximately 1 1/2 acres of rolling / sloped yard to keep up and thought the 60" deck width would give me the best cut versus mowing time trade off. Thanks for any advice.

I have a 6' air tunnel. blows the grass out of discharge shute. Does a nice job. A rear discharge will throw the grass out the back, each blade discharges it's own clippings, so the clippings don't travel all the way to one side of the mower. If I ever buy a new one it will be a rear discharge, but that's me.

Fritz, I don't know a lot about the air tunnel models except what I've heard about them, but I have the rear discharge Bush Hog and sure wouldn't trade it for anything else unless I was going to use some form of collection or bagging attachment.

I have side discharge mower. It does a fine job, but the discharge chute sticks out and you have to use the other side to get close to stuff. Plus, it makes the mower hard to trailer. Next time I'll get a rear discharge.

 Finish mowers

Anyone have any experience with Woods, Landpride, Befco, Bush Hog? I am looking to get a 72" rear Discharge mower. the Landpride uses 3/16" steel and Bush Hog both uses 7Ga(appox 3/16"Wink yeah right steel, a the Befco and Woods use 8Ga. a little thinner, but very close. The dealer I am looking to buy a new tractor from carries Bush Hog, but I already own a Landpride tiller and have been very impressed with it.

Anyone have any comments on which is better? I'm sure they are all decent pieces of equip. Also, the Bush hog will cost me $1695(Not sure of the model #), the Landpride $1650 (for the FDR2572, the FDR 1572 is a lower duty unit)

Any help appreciated
Thanks,
Mark

Mark, all four of the brands you named have good reputations, but the only one I've had personal experience with is the Bush Hog, and I've been very happy with their implements. I had one of their 48" brush hogs, but when I traded up to a larger tractor, I traded up in size and down in quality for a cheaper 60" brush hog. I'm still using my Bush Hog RTS40 tiller (a little over 5 years now) and I'm using a Bush Hog RDTH-60 finish mower (and I paid $1695 for it just over a year ago). No complaints whatever with any of the ones I've owned (except price maybe).
