Chirp; I can't recall ever seing a belly mower on an 8N. Due to the basic low profile design of the tractor I don't think there is enough room under the frame to fit one in. Art can fill us in. Frank. ....

I think Frank is right, it 'can' be done, but it is difficult since the lift mechanism and all the required linkage take up most of the available height.

That being said, I have seen a Ford Jubilee which had a front-mounted deck which was powered by a PTO-mounted hydraulic system.

It was one of those things that was done merely because the guy 'could' do it.

Best of luck. ....

I'm quite sure that woods built them as well as artsway for the 8N tractors.. I'm not sure that any are available new but I'd sure be checking with them as they did in the past. Now to find a used one could be hard as the last I know they were built was about the late 80's for sure. Without having independent PTO they were tough to get used to as you would need some running room to get them going. ....

I know I'm resurrecting an old thread, but his link is too good to pass up.

I've wanted to build up one of these every since I saw this (and I'm not a huge 8N fan).

Bill,

Great 8N pictures and accompanying story. I wish I had a $1.00 for every hour I spent on an 8N as a kid doing everything from harrowing to pulling a hay slip to smoking gophers! :)
