Greetings from Vermont.
I've been using an old JD #261 rotary mower for years and it
finally rusted out. Bought a new deck only, JD part #AM101544, at the JD dealer and am swapping out pulleys, spindles ect. The transmission mounting for the transmission body to the deck on my old one had welded tabs to the deck with two
holes punched on the vertical axis sides aligned with the holes on the
side of the trans housing. The new deck didn't have those tabs but had prepunched holes.Bought a set of angle iron brackets
from the dealer #M74198 and the holes still don't line up to the
prepunched holes on the new deck. Did JD change the design at
any time or use different tranny types with different bolt spacings? Mine is a "Curtis" type. The grass is up to our neck and I don't have a stick welder! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
