F150 Reiable and a great Value

I bought the 2001 F150 supercab. I wanted to get a domestic brand, tougher frame then those Toyotas, and I saved about 3 to 5 k as well. My last 150 was the the 1992 which I traded in, I spent about $500 in maintenance other than oil in 10 years, I paid about 12k for it then (2wd) and got 3k for it when i traded it with over 115k miles. I can't beat that for cost. My new one won't fair so well as it was loaded with features I suppose, but we'll see!

F150 Reiable and a great Value

I bought a new F150 SB SC XLT in early 97. I put on more than 60000 in three years with little trouble. I paid 21K for it and recieved 18.5K for it after it was distroyed in a fire. The only real problem was a 2 dollar seal in the rear end that I had to replace after the waranty was up. A lot of work but not much cost.
As with most Ford autotransmissions they are not as forgiving as the GM ones. You need to change oil. I replaced mine at the dealer and a friend that had an idential truck replaced it at a local oil change house. The dealer change was 150 the local oil change house was 60. He had to repair his with less than 60K miles. Mine was fine. You can not get all the oil out with just lowering the pan.
