 Ford NAA wiring diagram

Need to know whether the ammeter is internally shunted or am I missing a shunt. The wiring is a mess and the armature wire goes directly to the regulator without passing thru the ammeter -but- I don't see a shunt anywhere to hook the ammeter to. I have the IT manual but it doesn't have a diagram or description. Is there a diagram I can access or can someone post one please.

Thanks!
jon

Jon, the ammeter has two wires, connect one to the line between the constantly hot terminal of the starter solenoid, and the other to the 'Battery' terminal of the alternator.

If there's anything else you need just give a shout.

Best of luck.

I'll try that and report back Murf.

The hot lead on the start relay has a 12ga wire that goes to a terminal stud where the "hot wires" connect. One of these goes to the BAT terminal of the regulator. Seems as though I would just be checking a wire at two places. Hmmm...

thx,
jon

Hey Murf,

I finally found a wiring diagram and it shows the ammeter hooked up as you say. I initially thought you meant in parallel with the wire going from the start relay to the terminal junction which didn't work. It takes the place of that wire as the ammeter is in series with the wire. Thanks for the tip! working like a champ.

jon

Glad to hear it Jon.

An ammeter is probably the most confounding thing out there, it needs to go in just the right place to read the difference in the circuit.

Best of luck.
