 CADET 2135 ELECTRIC BLADE PTO

Nothing happens when I try to start the blade on my 2135. The switch meters out OK.
It started doing this this intermittently, but if I cycled it enough times the blade would eventually start and run fine. Now I've spent half the day trying it with no success. Read the forum and came across two similar posts - one said to rap the module behind the switch and jumper the clutch straight to the battery. Neither helped. The other talked about setting gaps in the clutch while disassembled. I'm not that brave yet.
Fuses are good. Battery voltage while running is just over 12 volts. Tried rotating pulley by hand a little at a time to find a sweet spot. Nothing.
When jumpering, does it make a difference on polarity? If so, which to which?
Ideas, anyone?

One of my older cubs (782) has a similar problem where the mower deck start-up switch doesn't always activate. Mine usually will start-up cold but when shut off after warming up it won't restart without a cool down. My neighbor told me it is the points inside the switch. He says it is not difficult to adjust. You need to narrow the gap just slightly.

The polarity should be correct when you try it. Mine made a funny noise the first time I jumpered it, and then worked like new. I have mowed the lawn and field 3 times since and it has not even hinted at problems. Got that darn reverse mowing thing out of the way too.

Thanks for the replies.
Temperature doesn't seem to affect it.
Took the clutch apart - not much to it, even for me. Only a few parts. Looks like an electromagnet pulls the whole thing together, which explains the reading I got when I metered it. It's just a coil of wire, so there shouldn't be any resistance. If it were burned out, it would read open. I guess I lucked out if polarity makes a difference. I jumpered it again, this time with an extra set of hands to help, and it fired right up. Did about an acre of and a half with it hot-wired. I still haven't figured out what the two small magnets mounted on the outside do.
That narrows it down to the switch or the relay. I still don't know what the relay does, but it seems that are quite a few un-needed parts for something that appears to be this simple. Looks like a straight switch would do as well.
Figure a switch and a relay ought to run about five bucks - right?
Keep the ideas coming, and thanks, again.

I haven't seen to many switches and relays for five bucks but it sounds like a good concept.
