Hitting key with knee and accidentally turning off tractor!

Does this only happen to me! I did it twice this morning! I mostly do it when I am snowblowing with my 3ph and looking backwards all the time, though I sometimes hit it when I am mowing. I was thinking about making a "shield type thing" to keep my knee from hitting it? Any ideas? Or, I actually just need a bigger tractor!

Sure, sounds like a bigger tractor with snowblower on the front and a cab.
This could be very rough on the knee cap, which would lead to knee surgery. Need a better excuse? Smile

Don't feel like the only one. I have a B2400, and always hit the switch to turn the flashers on. So I took the fuse out. Don't think you could solve your problem that easy.

I am always dumping the FEL with my knee on my 4100 when I turn around to look.

Isn't modern technology grand. The older tractors have a manual cut of valve that turns the fuel off to stop the tractor. You can start the tractor and then take the key out.
A few minutes with the schematics You could probably determine where the fuel solenoid connected into the key and then make a separate toggle switch. Unfortunately it might also dissable some other safety feature. Might provide you with a little theft security too though, if you hid it well.

I word of caution- You might want to check your key from time to time. I broke one off inside the switch once, all most had to get as new swicth. It a BEAR to get out.

Maybe a different seat. One that swivels like on a backhoe might let you turn to the side without rotating your body, which pushes you knees closer to the console. Might work, but there may be safety issues if a seat was able to swivel all the time.

Actually I think it does work. At least I'm sitting here in my swivel office chair and tried it. To turn without swiveling the chair, you have to move one hip toward the front of the chair-- there might be a safety thing though.

Ahhhhh! The box with piano hinge sounds like the trick. I have a connection with a defense contractor that uses them to cover trigger switches, the red ones like airplanes have. The hard part is going to be finding one that is large enough to cover the key. May end up fabing something custom? Thanks for the feedback, glad I'm not the only one!
