front axle gear oil problem on 7260

Changed gear oil first time in my cub 7260 used 85-140 per owners manual. Capacity is 4.2 qts, I have installed 5.5 quarts so far, and oil is still not up to leveling hole on left side of axle, right side is full, contacted dealer who stated it takes time for oil to seep thru all the gears, well friends its been four days! Does anyone have any Idea, to what the problem could be?

My Ford 1710 has final reduction gears on the ends on the front axles. It even takes light oil awhile to refill the reduction gear cases. I fill it while leaving the drains loose and tighten them when oil starts coming out the drains. It could easily take heavy oil 4 days to get into final reduction cases. However, that would result in artificially high rather than low oil levels. My 1710 has one fill point on the right side of the axle. It would read low if the tractor wasn't setting fairly level.

Have you tried running the tractor a bit to get the lube moving? I might try it for a short period of time if you've added the recommended quantity of lube.

Over filling differentials often leads to high heat and blown seals from the extra pressure.

I should have read your question more carefully. If you changed that oil when that front end is cold it will take forever to seep down into the hubs. I have 1500 hours on my 27 hp 1996 cub. Warm weather warm gear box it comes up quick. Cold weather etc it takes days. I dont know why. I do know that front end pretty well, my bolts backed out of my ring gear All I heard was a clunk and my tractor was froze right there. I had to tear it apart on the job yank the drive shaft and ring and pinion gear out put the cases back together and bring it home and go to K L Jacks here in portland me to get some replacement bolts. Now with anti seize properly applied I always wonder will it happen again? Also if the front hub seals start leaking, fix it quick, because a leaking seal will lead to metal shafe on the housing each housing is about $800.00 I had that problem and land power stated dont sweat it, its no big deal
I fixed it and noticed this critical problem commencing. All in all Love my tractor....
