 Cub Cadet engine heater

I just bought a used 2001 Cub Cadet 7260 and am trying to figure out what type and where to install an engine heater. The soft plug holes are only about 3/4" OD so I don't think that will work. I did find a ~1" threaded hole down at the base of the injector pump that appears to go into the block, but not really sure what that is for. I have seen smaller (3/4" to 1"Wink yeah right threaded engine heaters at the parts stores, so this may be the spot to install one. I emailed Cub Cadet a week ago and got no response. There is the possibility of a lower radiator hose heater which to me would be a last resort, due to potential for leaks. I checked with the local cub dealer who has never sold the compact diesel tractors (only lawn care equip.) and he called another dealer and they came up with a crazy price of $138 for an engine heater. Not sure what type they were quoting. Any advise would be appreaciated.

The factory Cadet block heater is different than most but yet simuliar as it to is to assist starting. The factory normally knows what works best, after all they did build it. The price you were quoted is a good price, the unit does go into the block but it is not like your normal soft plug unit. You very well can come up with something else by using a tank style or the lower radiator hose (near useless) or what ever you like but he is not out of line in his pricing for the factory unit.

Mark,
I have a Cub 7275 and have a lower hose heater and it works very well for me. I installed myself and cost was under 20.00. I have never had a problem with leaks. I use a heavy duty timer and the night before I need the tractor, I set it to come on in middle of night and in morning trator is warm and ready to go. The hydro oil is cold for a few minutes when below zero but that doesn't take long to warm up either.
