I am attempting to replace the starter motor in my Craftsman dLt3000. The new starter motor has a spring loaded gear wheel whereas the old one does not appear to have that spring. The parts otherwise appear to be the same. The new part came from the Sears parts dept. Guessingt it should be the correct part. Should I remove the spring before installing the starter. Any help greatly appreciated.
