Tractor turns over but will not start.

Earlier today my lt 2000 just stopped in the middle of mowing. It would not turnover at all. I removed the top that protecys the engine and manuelly cranked it with pliers. Changed the oil and replaced the spark plug. Now it just turnsover and will not start...
Any suggestions

It might have an underseat safety switch to cut the electrics, and they can malfunction, so try shorting it. Or, if that's a Sears, do they not have tractor service people you can ask?

I think you will find more than just the seat safety switch and anyone probably could stop it. Also look for a wire to be pulled loose from a safety switch. It will be much easier if you have a meter to test to see if current is going through the switch one at the time.

Did not think to ask if you tested to see if there was any spark to the plug? It is possible there is a problem with gas part of the engine also. Can you tell if gas is getting to the cylinder when it is turning over?

Tractor turns over but will not start.

Thanks for the reply. I do believe it must be electrical(safety) Before I would have to be seated to get it to turn over(start) now I just push the brake amd it Turns over. How do I go about searching for the safety connections.
Thanks

Many are easy to find just look for a pair of wires running to say, under the seat, to pto switch lever, brake and clutch pedal area. To me it is easy to follow the wires to find the switches. If you have a way to check for currnet, see if it is to that switch and then through it when it is placed in the safe or disconnected postion. Or if you way to test, then using some sort of wire jumper by pass one switch at the time to see if you can find the problem. Just be sure you have the tractor safe when doing so, such as PTO off or trans out of gear.

Sorry for the comments about pto and all, forget it was a lawn mower.

I know this is an old post, but If you have not found the problem there are several places to look. First determine if it has spark when its turning over. NO Spark LOOK for a shorted safety switch. If spark is present then it may be fuel. U didnt specify what engine, but if its briggs, it has a fuel solineoid on the bottom of the float bowl. Turn on the switch, plug and unplug the switch,U should hear a click of the solenoid. If no clicking then use a jumper and power the solenoid,if it clicks then there is no power there and the problem is a broken wire or a bad ignition switch.
Please post your findings.
