 DX24E mid-PTO Problem?

The MMM has been off during the landscaping effort the past 4-5 months. The landscaping work with the tractor is for the most part done. Needed to get the MMM back on due to the proliferation of grass/weeds greening-up getting some growth on them. Put the MMM back on yesterday evening. Fired-up the tractor again after checking things over twice. Went to engage the PTO with the PTO selector in the "mid only" position, and the tractor was like it was stalling or stuck having been bogged-down; released the PTO. Checked the "rear only;" it was spinning great when the PTO was engaged (had been using the rear PTO with the tiller only the week before). Went back to the "mid only" to try again with the same results: the tractor was being severely loaded-down when trying to engage the PTO. Then tried the middle PTO selectio for engaging both: same result of the engine being loaded down when trying to engage the PTO. Tried several back and forth selections of the PTO with no joy.

Is there something that I am missing on doing with the mid-PTO and it not working? Just curious if there is something additional that needs to be checked or that is needed to be done.

When I get home this evening, I will disengage the MMM's mid-PTO driveline to isolate the problem between the tractor and the MMM. I believed the MMM was going great when put-up in NOV, but will check it to ensure that it turns over/around. The mid-PTO was able to be turned manually, and freely, when lining-up the spines with the MMM's mid-PTO driveline when putting it on.

I have noticed in some recent posting about PTO problems with the TZ series. I wonder if this some more of the same?

Please note this would be applicable to the NH TZ series as well; Case being red and NH being blue.

 DX24E mid-PTO Problem?

There was no problem with the mid PTO at all. The MMM's driveline was disconnected; the mid PTO worked just great. The problem was in the MMM. And the MMM's problem has been fixed too.

Ah! The mechanical version of Ex-lax: hammer, a broad chisel, and about a half hour of time was all that was needed to remove a great conconction of mud and dried grass. It was so bad that 2 of the 3 blades were only able to move about an inch or so.

Coming home tonight, I remembered putting the deck on about 2-3 weeks ago for the afternoon just so that I could mow the front. It was a mess that day with wet tall grass and weeds, some muddy spots, and then it started raining on me when about 2/3 of the way done. I pulled the MMM off the next day since doing more excavation work with the box scraper.

Anyway, this "problem" was a self-induced one. The blend of weeds, grass, mud, and rain must have been just right for such a buildup. I never realized the amount of mud/grass that could and did collect inside the MMM. The stuff was well-dried from having been in the garage for several weeks. I can understand how mud bricks can be so good now; that was some tough stuff. I never thought to check underneath the MMM prior to putting the it back on yesterday afternoon.
