 used skidsteer

Not sure if this is the right discussion board to post this on . I'm looking into purchasing a used BObcat skidsteer . Mainly to move piles on a hobby farm and cut in some drainage swales. Would a Bobcat 742-751 etc be more recommended ? What should I look for when I go to inspect a used Bobcat 743 with about 3000 hrs? Thanx

You might work it over an area where you can detect any external leak. Then lift the arms half-way, shut down, and check they stay for an hour without internal leaks. And you need traction, so inspect the tires.

For swaling, make sure it has the right kind of cutting bucket/blade. Depending on the topography you might need one whose sides can be tilted. If it's a one-time job, renting a tracked dozer with six-way blade might suit better. As for transporting material, I'm sure you know that you don't need a skidder for that, and that any turning chews up the turf.

The big deal is that you can hit a switch to release whatever's on the arms, drive up to another attachment and latch on from inside the cab. If it has that feature, make sure it works.

If you can check the compression, that could be worth the effort. You might send a sample of used motor oil for analysis.
