 570 belarus hydrulic problem

Hi. I'm having a problem with a 1994 570 Belarus. It started out by blowing some fluid out of the vent pipe on the resivor when I would let the gate down on my roller. I got ready to roll hay a couple of days ago, started up the road on the tractor, pulled into the farm I had to roll. I was letting my pickup down when I looked up and saw smoke fill the cab. The hydrulic pump had gotten so hot it was blowing fluid out of the vent pipe, falling onto the pump. I couldn't even touch the pump it was so hot. I know I've read some stuff on here about a by pass vavle and that kind of thing, but I havn't seen it on this tractor. I've got the pump off now and there is no play in it at all. Its as tight as a new one. So I'm hoping that I can get some information from here on what might be the problem before I fool with putting this pump back on and have the same problem or blow 300 bucks on a new pump.

Thanks. Michael

Michael, first off, welcome, pull up a chair and stay a spell.

The first thing I think of with a hot hyd. pump and an implement out the back that uses hydraulics is that there's an open center / closed center issue.

Heat is the best indicator of something wrong, in this case if the hydraulics are "dead-headed" (pumping against an obstruction) two things happen. First the pressure goes up to the pressure relief valve (PRV) setting, second the PRV continuously opens & closes at an extremely high rate of speed. This often causes a chattering or squealing sound. The combination of the fluid being forced through an extremely small passage (friction = heat) and the heat caused by the PRV itself cycling so much can cause incredible heat.

Even if you have used this setup before without issue the problem could be (almost) the same thing, but for a different reason. Quick disconnect are surprisingly tricky, they can LOOK fine, but not be properly connected and either severely restricting, or totally blocking, the flow of hydraulics.

My suggestion would be to check connections at the quick connects if you have them. If not, any other place there could be a blockage..

Best of luck.

Thanks for your reply. If you don't believe there is anything wrong with the pump I'll put it back on tomorrow change the filter and put my fluid back. I'll let it run without the roller attached and see if it still get hot andif it ddoesn't then I may have a problem somewhere else. Something that I did forget to put in my first post was when I opened the gate on theroller before the pump sstarted getting hot it was very slow lifting. I tried both remotes and it was the same way on both sides. I guess I should have said that the first time but I wasn't thinking. Thanks for your help. All is appreciated.
