 belarus 220, 3point hitch problems

i am a first time owner of a tractor, and although i have already managed to clear some of my land of down fall, holly trees and vines, i've also managed to screw up my three point hitch. i've found an owners manual on ebay and have it ordered, but im looking for a parts breakdown , shy of paying $21 dollars for the one at belarus.com. im not sure of the tech terms for the parts i need to replace. if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. although the dealers for belarus is not as large i would still like to price shop, but i also dont want to sound like an idiot. also is there a way to stabilize a box blade so it doesnt swing around. ive checked the net and found nothing precise. ive though of just adding some chain. the 3ph rubs my tire when turning on a slight enclin. once again thanks for any help.

Ok, here goes, the original question or statement is in quotes;

"i've also managed to screw up my three point hitch." That doesn't exactly tell us enough to be of any help with an answer, sorry.

"also is there a way to stabilize a box blade so it doesnt swing around." This is a little easier to help with, there should be a pair of eye bolts, one mid-way down the lift arm, another in towards the differential, there should be a bar or chain between the two. This is generically called a "check chain" or "anti-sway" bar. It will prevent the 3pth from swinging over far enough to allow the arm to hit the tire.

Best of luck.

i think it is a lifter arm that i have managed to break at the top where the pin attatches to the tractor, also there is a threaded shaft at the bottom of the hydralics that the nut has stripped off of thus demolishing the threads on one side. like i said im new to the tractor thing and seem to have to learn the hard way. thanks for the info far as how to stabalize my bb. know of any links for a parts break down for this tractor by chance?

First things first, try to be a little more descriptive, too many words make life far easier than not enough does, I can't see what you're pointing at. Laughing out loud

Most generic parts will be available locally at ANY farm equip dealer or Tractor Supply, etc., and in the absence of that, yes chain will suffice for the anti-sway links.

Just remember, the two lift arms will likely need SOME slack in the anti-sway chains since they will get tighter as you lift the 3pth up, if there isn't any slack, it will bend or break something (else).

If the part you are saying is broken is the threaded rod that runs between the BB and the tractor to make the 3rd (upper) point of the 3pth, then that is available anywhere that sells farm stuff also. It is called a "top link".

Best of luck.

I just saw your post from September. I also have a 220 which has served me well although I have broken quite a few items on it. (Probably my fault due to overstressing this size of tractor) Anyway, did you solve your problems with it? I've had to replace or repair a few 3 point hitch items on mine also.

ive just accepted that it is a small tractor and i over use it. ive straightened my lift arm twice now and it is bent again. but it is parked right now due to a roll over and a broke cv joint. i havent opend the front drive yet to look for damage to the gears. the boss of the house said repairs would have to wait till after christmas. as far as my 3point hitch solutions. i know they make some factory parts for stabilization but ive priced them and like everything else a little over the top. ive resorted to tring to pay just a little more attention. and accepting i cantpush/drag mt rushmore all at once. the next time i straighten my lift arm im going to weld some angle across to strengthen it back up. i like the tractor and as far as the problems that have happened, it is all my fault. all i can say is it has been a learning experiance

I have broken both rear axles, one rear drive shaft and one front drive shaft. Also had to replace the front differential. (I believe it was broken when I got it) About $400 per part except for the rear drive shaft at $115. Parts came from Belarus in Minnesota or Wisconsin (can't remember) As far as the 3 point hitch, the turnbuckle separated and was lost. I replaced it with one from TSC at $18. The threaded lift arm adjustment broke. I had it welded for about $5. The rod at the base of the lift arm cylinders striped the threads, so I took it to a machine shop and he rethreaded it to a standard 3/4 by 10 thread for $15. No problems since.

There are few devices in this world that are more standardized than a tractor's rear hitch. So just take some photos or draw a sketch and take it to a tractor dealer and ask for someone in Service or Parts. They can advise you what, if anything, to buy, and how to adjust. They may want to know what "Category" (size) your hitch takes. I'd bet Cat I, but you could measure the thickness of one of the pins that go into the three receivers, which will tell them.
