Ben,<br>Yes I know of many an OLD perfectly running 30-+ year old tractors. I dont however think that present day JD lawn/garden will last <br>long. While they will most likley last longer than MTD's, I really doubt the bulk of the JD;s will last 30-35 years.. The quality isnt there anymore,<br>the manufacture knows that people like new even with old is still working so why go the extra step for forever lasting equipment.<br>People in general treat everything as disposible, getting old, get a new one. People are less machaniclly minded and dont want to <br>to work on something. Easier (again), to go buy new. Hmm, fix the tractor or go golfing. Tractor looses, dealer/JD wins.<br>For my needs right now the Huskee (MTD) is doing its job, it was bought with the knowledge that it would not last forever<br>the price reflected that. I figure a good 3 years. By then Ill have a higher quality compact tractor (maybe a used JD/kubota)<br>and the MTD will go into secondary status and live its life in a less demanding role.<br>Take care.<br>

I am looking for a compact trator. A local JD dealer has a ford 110 forsale. Tractor is a 1984 (or 87) model, 400hrs, <br>diesel, 11/13 HP It looks good and is a local trade in. Anyone care to guess as to the value?<br>

The 870 is a newer version than the 850 tractor with some updated features. The 855 was being sold the same time as the 870, but the 855 is a smaller unit with hydrostatic transmisssion.

i have owned 4 yazoo mowers over the years. for strictly mowing they are virtually unbeatable. ihave also had jacobsen, toro,grasshopper, exmark and others. i would hesitate to recommend yazoo for snowblowing due to the traction problem. for mowing around trees yazoo is the way to go

Does anyone have a URL or a reference to older (80-90) yanmar tractors. I am looking at an older import and see<br>a few sites with yanmar tractors listed but have no idea as to physcial size, design looks, etc.<br>FOr example what is a YM165 as compared to a Kubota B2710 or B5100? Before I make an allday trip to a dealer It would be<br>nice to know its in the ball part of what I am looking for.

I have an JD870 with a 440 loader. Haven't had any problems whatsoever with it<br>and it is a nice heavy duty loader.

I paid $21,555.00 for the exact sameset up in northern Minnesota back in Jan. and another $6,700.00 for the model 48 backhoe, $445.00 for the # 45 rear blade I guess no matter where you co they have it pretty close on prices so your best off looking for service and convience. My dealer has been great and I'm glad I bought where I did a AG dealer with great service.

Glad to hear you like your 1070. I bought an 870 last year and love it. I haven't<br>had one bit of trouble with it and have about 80 hours on the tractor. I have the <br>440 loader which I believe is the same loader you would put on your tractor and <br>I believe you can add that for around $3000.00 give or take a few hundred one way or <br>the other. Hope you have as good of luck with your tractor as I have had.

four wheel drive lever should be on your left side it's a lever youy pull up for four wheel and push down for two. some times you have to be moving slow to engage this lever. the lock out is for the loader so kids won't mess with the loader when your not using it. you have to have the loader on the machine when using the backhoe or it will be rear heavy and the front tires will float and making it impossible to steer. loader is a must with the backhoe. shifter on the dash is a power reverser forward and reverse and nuteral let side is the three different ranges high low and medium ranges. PTO has nothing to do with the backhoe for mowers and other attachments that need the PTO do not use it unless your using a attachment with it and do not just let it run that's how people get hurt, be carefull it's more than a toy but do enjoy having your new tractor. start out slow until you get comfortable with the machine it can kill you if your not carefull. good luck

Putting up a new pole building and I'm concerned about frost and red clay with the poles being pushed out of the ground from the cold winters in Northern Minnesota. Has anyone delt with this problem and or have any solutions for it. They told me they put the poles 4 1/2 feet in the ground is all. <br>Thanks, Gary<br>

I have a CaseIH 30HP compact tractor made by Mitsubishi with live PTO. I have a problem shifting when using a rotary cutter. In order to change gears I have to wait for the cutter to stop spinning. I can take it out of the gear that I was in when I started the cutter, but I cannot put it into any other forward gear or reverse until the cutter stops spinning. I have been through the clutch adjustment procedure in the manual but that did not help. Any ideas?
