If you look at commercial forestry skidders, they have a lot of weight forward and also lift the front of the logs clear.
Again, maybe I'm all wrong, but I wanted to pass the thought along.

wheels on slopes (at least when going
straight up or down the slope, not at an
angle). Right?
(3) The main reason I'm even considering the
tracked loader instead of a dozer, is to be
able to simultaneously carry a backhoe. From
my experience so far, trying to use smaller
(wheeled) machines, I frequently have to
switch from using a blade or loader bucket to
using a backhoe to dig out a large rock,
before I can continue with the blade. Also,
I think that, when going up and down slopes,
having the backhoe extended straight out and
parallel to the ground helps to prevent
tipping, using the backhoe either as a
counterweight (on the uphill side of the
loader), or as a one-legged stabilizer on the
downhill side.
Overall, what machine do you think would be
best?
