Since Deere is in such high demand has that caused the prices to be non-competitve to Kubota and NH. If they are more by grand or so I can't see going with them. Has any got some price comps in the 25 HP range?

I paid $24,700 for a 4600 with loader, folding ROPS, and R4 industrial tires. I looked around quite a bit, but when it came time to buy it, it became a matter of finding one. I was lucky. I found one in stock at a dealer who quoted me the best price, but more importantly, was very good to deal with.

I had the same overheating problem with my 2150hst. After many attempts to fix (new therostat, new radiator, new water pump) dealer called local distributer. It seems the head gasket holes for the water passages were to small. They replaced the head gasket problem solved.

One thing that I found about the 4100 gear is that it does NOT have

With the HST, you get Live PTO. So if you want put on a belly mower, every time
you engage the clutch, the mower will stop. Hope this will help.

I read the articles on mowers but i still a little unclear as to how the Flail mower is built. Is like a Reel mower, but with a bunch of loose blades whipping around? How do you sharpen it is it dangerous to do so?

On John Deere 4000 series, mainly hydro's... or any type trans. for that. If you have ordered any from your local dealers, what have been the original "Time Frames " they have given you for delivery ... Has it been accurate, or acceptable for it to take the time you are told it will take, or has taken? I am taking a general consensus on what "you the Customer" thinks on these delivery times. I would appreciate if you could list the model # , trans.type, state or area of the country you are in , and the length of time it has taken or projected to take before you get your New 4000 series . I would also be interested in knowing if there is any one here that has had a 4000 series on order and has cancelled do to "length of time it will take" to get in? and if they went into a paticular different brand ?
The reason for this ..... I may want to forward your replies to the right people at John Deere and let them get a "Good Idea" at what the Customer really thinks on these availability issues, and if they "LOST" any customers due to this.
Any other comments are welcomed also.

What does anyone have to say about filling the front tires of a 4WD compact with calcium chloride solution instead of hanging weights off the front of the tractor. Idea no good because of effect on steering I suppose?

I have the Kubota L2000, which is the grey equiv. of the L275. Bought it 2 years ago ago for 4000 US and love it.<br>It had only 750 hours on it, and I've put on about another 60 since then. Had had no problems. Hope this info helps.

Your price is high. I just bought a TC29D with supersteer for $14,500. That included calcium filled tires, too.

I put my deposit down on a New Holland 1725 with deluxe hitch and folding ROP at the sale price of $12,000. This is 4wd, manual transmission, no supersteer. I thought I had a good tractor at a very good price, and I probably did. I found this message board and read about some problems with the 1725, so I went back to the dealer. He checked and there was a campaign to fix some 1630, 1725, and 1925 models with suspect low engine horsepower. The solution is to dyno the PTO horsepower and make a fuel adjustment if necessary. My 1725 was probably not affected. The dealer told me I really wouldn't want it anyway when he learned of my plan to use a rear snowblower to clear a 525 ft drive in snow country because the 1725 does not have a live PTO. Between that and the potential problem with the 1725 engine, which was in fact redesigned for the TC29 and is known to burn cleaner as a result, I opted for a TC29D with supersteer that he had on the lot. This has hydrostatic transmission and all of those creature comforts the deluxe versions have, as well as folding ROP and deluxe 3pt hitch. I paid $14,445 for this tractor. Ended up paying more than I planned, but I expect to be glad I did, someday! Hoping my story helps someone else in the same quandry.

Perhaps the reference to weights being carried by the chassis was to those weights you can add on to the front or the back of the tractor itself, not to metal wheel weights which would be no different than calcium chloride in the tires.
