Check out http://www.firestoneag.com/tiredata/ag/rear_tractor/rtr_atu.asp there's a significant difference in these 2 tire sizes. Sounds like an issue to pursue with your dealer. I wouldn't use 4wd unless the without the correct tires.

If it was cut with a circular blade I'd plane both sides so the install lays as flat as possible. If is was cut with a band mill the rough side shold be smooth enough not to cause any problems. A little red cedar goes along way. I simple lined the undersides of my shelves in the walk in closets, 32 sq ft, rather than paneling 150 q ft of walls.

Very nice shed. Would you go octagonal again? Any idea how much additional time was spent building this vs a square/rectangular shed? How difficult was the roof? Any thing you would do different? Where'd you get the plans and what it the footprint/sq footage? I'll be building a gazeebo this summer, so I'm looking for best practices. Thanks, JT

The nice thing about sealing it on the ground is you get all 4 sides. I couldn't live with covering 100 sq ft/day, if you were doing drywall that's only three 8' sheets a day....

Art, are you saying 80/90 wt gear oil doesn't lubriucate below zero? My blower runs that in the gear box - no problems in 3 years of heavy use with many days below zero. 80/90 is also used in truck transmissions and differentials. Heck the model A's use a 600 weight gear oil, (closer to grease...).

2 guys can eaily swap your tires from side to side. The trick is to keep them upright. If they fall over, strap on the back brace, because 2 guys are going to have a tough time getting up right again.

I have an 800' drive that has 1 steep section and live in snow country, (upstate NY), I've had no problems without chains. I have an L3710, w/ R4, FEL and 78" rear blower. I occasionally do a 1/2 mile plus farm lane if things get too deep for my neighbor to plow, this lane is extremely steep - again, no problems w/o chains.

HST is highly recommended. Especially for mowing and loader work. Will anyone else be using the machine? My wife and kids look forward to using my Kubota L3710, that would not be the case if they had to clutch and shift. Infinite speed control is nice for tilling and snowblowing. I've had gears and will not go back.

Gee, It wasn't that difficult to add another valve just below the loader control valve on my B 2710. Just tap into the loader control where it is set up for "Power Beyond".

Bruce, The backhoe is about 2 years old, less than 100 hrs. It might take 15 - 20 minutes to install / uninstall after a little practice. Pushing fill with the side of the bucket... a couple of times, it doesn't do it well, remember this is a small piece of equip. I usually run the tractor at 1500 maybe a little more to get at stumps. the hydraulics are driven off the HST tractor pump.

If you want to beef up either bucket, bolt on an 8 inch cutting edge, (mine's cut down from a skid steer). This adds significant rigidity to my HD bucket, and saves wear and tear. 200+ hours of serious dirt/rock/boulder work and the bucket's in great shape.

Larry, I also have a B 2710 with a 6' Curtis plow up front. With chains there seemed to enough traction and power so this year I widened the plow to 8' and it did just fine. Good luck JT

David, Here in Maine they just included the block heater as part of the package on my B 2710. It does start well with just the glow plugs, but having the engine block and oil warm can only help. $35 seems closer to the value. So I'd have it installed. Good luck JT

Robert, I have the land pride 72" rake with both the wheel kit and the flip down grader blade. Both options work really well. The blade was about $200 extra but does a good job of allowing the rake to work as a box scraper. The extra 80# seems to make the rake work better. As JeffM said, it isn't as heavy built or expensive as the Woods line.

I have even less experienc with computers and keyboards. Spilling your stone as you back up might be easier if you have to fill in some areas. If you can borrow a york rake with wheels to gauge your pitch it will cut the learning curve down to a couple of minutes. Finish off by dragging a metal bed frame over the drive several times and you will be amazed at the quality of your work.
