Pretty small tractor... I would think you would grow out of it pretty fast!

It is interesting that you said that a rear discharge works well especially if you can't mow regularly. I felt just the opposite as taller grass always seems to winrow more often. With a side mower you can at least throw the clipping off to the side the cut over on the next pass as with the center discharge you have to basically go over the last cutting

It in interesting you brought the NH into the conversation as you are correct. The price for the NH which comes with alot more addons by default compared to the JD is a real deal maker. The JD 10 series has some changes although to add all the changes up in cost from what I can see currently puts the price well over a comparible NH boomer.

How about the new versions coming out which would be the 4410 model. Have you heard any thing on that unit that might make you rethink your decision not to have another JD compact?

You don't say so I guess I could assume.. but I won't. You mentioned you can't put belly mower on a 45 which I understand... but did your price include a belly mower? Also, What do you use your TC40 for that requires SS. That a fair size unit to mow with! Just wondering!

This is an interesting conversation that I can relate to. A couple years ago I was in the market for a lawnmowercompact tractor. I have 15 ac and 5 of it requires a finish type mower and the rest is pasture, trees and what have you. I have many trees on the five ac to cut around so I needed something to get around all the trees "Many Fruit" I wanted badly to make a one time buy of a mower ractor! Well.. after testing the NH 33 with supersteer, and found that the NH 33 was a great compact but not the fine finishing mower that I needed. I couldn't cut around the fruit trees as I would tear down branches if I wanted to get close. The supersteer is nice but if getting close to the tree means tearing down limbs then this wasn't going to work, even with the ROP down.

So I decided that I would get a good finishing mower "JD 935" one that would last me a long time... My wife now drives 3 hours every weekend during grass season. And a compact at a later date.. I bother in law tried to use his NH 33 with super and belly a one in all lawn keeper and utility tractor and it just didn't work.. Now saying that... both he and I are very meticulous with our lawns. You can get by with a 33 and super steer but it won't be as manicured as with a well design finish mower like you have. One thing about having a smaller cutting deck vice a 6ft belly the NH 33 deck really does't float that well and tends to dig in in sloped areas where as your unit has a smaller cutting area that floats and follows the landscape better.

If you have lots of trees and you like it well manicured, sure the NH 33 swivels but with anything if you are cutting grass in an area with lots of obsticals you would rather be facing forward and not looking back at a 3pt finish mower. If it is all open ground and you have a 3pt finish mower you really don't need to be looking back.. I couldn't even consider a pull behind with over 100 trees!

Also, you might consider the tires on it. If you put turf tires on you don't leave the marks you will with the others. However, you then limit yourself to are traction you get in other areas.

There are a lots of considerations to take when spending all that money. Will you let your wife drive the NH33 does she feel better on the zero turn. Do you have kids that will cut the grass do you feel good about them on the NH33 or the zero turn. Can you wife be doing the grass while you are enjoying your new NH33 : )

Just my experiances.. you will have ideas from everyone. And everyone will have an idea!

Mr Wurm, I have used a 33 with superstear on my 15 acs, 5 ac are strickly fruit trees. I have use both belly and 3pt. The superstear does an great job going around the trees with a belly. The only thing to watch out for is the limbs. Using a 3pt with superstear is a pain in the NECK. Literaly. Trying to cut around 150 trees with a pull behind no matter if you have superstear or not can be an all day task. NOW.. let me expand, If you are not concerned about getting close and having a really nice manacured look, NOT an issue. Also, let me say this... I use a JD 935 to go around all the trees as it just doesn't get much better than that! And with a 6 ft cut I can knock alot off in a couple of hours.

I think one thing nice about the TC29 is that you can add a belly mower.. although you didn't mention that was a concern for resale it would be nice to have.

So with the RPMs at 2600 would you compare it to the 25? If so dollar to dollar where does that leave you as far as extras on the 25 or 29 to a TC30 with no frills.

Thats who I thought. I ordered a 35 from him and it came with some rust on it so I didn't want it. Now I am confused if I want a 33 or 30 or maybe a JD 4310 one of the new models coming out. One thing abou the 33 I don't like is the foot pedal. I like the 35 and up the way the hydro pedal works. Oh.. well.. Mr. Ross live about 2 miles from me.. just need to work something up with him.

I think I have an answer for you!! I have tried them all.... I have many many trees... let's say I have an orchard! I was going to buy a tractor... specifically a supersteer compact... so I brought one out to the house with a belly mower on it and a loader. The belly mover did fine and around the trees I did pretty good as long as I could stay away from the limbs! Most of my property is smooth enough that the loader wasn't an issue with the belly on. However, I was trying to kill two birds with one stone... I needed a good lawn mower one that goes around trees and I wanted a compact tractor. Well... you can't get both .. I don't care what anyone esle says... with a finish mower being pulled behind which I have used you can break your neck watching it as you go around the trees and you really don't get close... although if you aren't in a hurry you can get pretty close if you like backing up a lot. I like my yard to look nice but I don't like to spend all day cutting it 5 Ac. So I decided that If I bought the tractor I wouldn't be happy as it really wasn't a lawn mower and if I bought the lawnmower I wouldn't have a tractor...

Well.. To make a long story a bit shorter I decided that I would spend the money for a good mower JD 935 and save my money to get a compact tractor in the future. In my personal situation I made a good decision. By the way my brother in-law has a NH 33 with super steer and he does the inlaws house .. I have to use the 935 to go around all the trees and areas where he can't get...... It is about 4 AC.. we get it done fast both of us.. but it is alot of money in equipment to cut grass...

On another note... my brother in-law cut down just about all his trees and the ones he didn't cut down he pruned the hell out of the limbs!!!

I use a JD 935 with a 72 inch cut for the same area you are looking at. I have lots of trees "Orchard" that helped make my choice! I was going to get a tractor to cut my yard... but it wouldn't be the same trying to cut around 200 trees with a tractor so last year was a yard cutter... next year a real tractor!
