Below is an article on the new Dodge chassis cab with a new larger Cummins and 6-speed auto-box. There will be a 450-650 sized truck from Dodge again. This article also touches on the new epa (BS) regs and how Cummins has complied already.

There has been no mention on huge price increases due to the low NoX (BS) that the epa has come up with. More tech and junk on the motors (I'll keep my '94, thank you. lol), but they will comply.

Update.

Due to the warm weather last week (40's and 50's) the weight limits have been put on the local roads and no digging has occurred. This past weekend we got 10" of wet sloppy snow on top of all the mud at the building site, so we are pushed out even further, now.

GRRRR!

Good news is that I Will be picking up my L3400 tomorrow afternoon. I just don't have anything to do with it right now.

No. A hand drill will work fine for this. You are not trying to remove any material from the cyllinder, just make the surface rough enough to hold the oil.

My Kubota ignitions switch works just like dkheckmanl said his works. Look for (2) "start" positions on the switch. The first is for the glow-plugs.

I don't know what "Sea Foam" is, but your best addative (if you choose to use one) would be an actual diesel addative like "Power Service" or "Standedyne" or some other name brand.

Sounds like a good candidate for a B7800 or 7610. Small enough for the lawn, big enough for the pasture. Just anouther opinion.

Your budget limit is going to make things very tough. Maybe an old Ford -N series or similar antique with a 4 or 5' rough cutter would do the pasture and a 'big box' throw away lawn tractor for the finish mowing of the yard. At this I think the $5000 will be blown by a bit.

Option 2: Use the $5k down on a new CUT (Kubota B, NH-TC, JD 4x10 series?) and do it all with one machine.

The five is a version of the six offered in the Trailblazer. It had some teething issues early on with dropping the #5 cyllinder sleeve (sleeved aluminum block), but, I think that has been overcome now.

I know little else on the five.

Good choice Hilly2. Looks like you got a pretty good price too. I just upgraded from a BX2230 to an L3400DT (thats the gear model) for my larger property. It should be delivered in a week or so. (excited jitters)

Here in Wisconsin they call it "Road Base" when it has the binder in it, usually clay. This is what my 1/2 mile long driveway is made from. After the first rains go through it the clay sinks in leaving a locking layer of rock on the surface. In general it works pretty well if it has enough drainage. If it collects water (low spot ect.) it turns into mush and is a mess.

Thank you for the advise. Yes, I thought long and hard on the hydro verses the gear. After driving the gear model, many of my conserns were settled. As of tonight, the tractor is on the way. L3400 + LA463 on R4's with a block heater.

China will attack us. It is inevitable, only a matter of when. As long as the short sighted American Government allows them to DUMP products here without tariff, we are sunk. Our industrial base will be wiped out in short order and what will we have to fight a war with? Our 'service economy' cannot make planes, tanks, guns or even the fuel to run them.

Okay, I'll be the voice of dissent here.

I was quoted $200/weekend rental for a Compact Track Hoe by my Kubota dealer (not delivered). I believe that included 10 hours of hobbs time. Let's see, $7500 for a CUT backhoe, divided by $200 per weekend rental, equals 37-1/2 weekends of work. Even if you double the rental, thats still just under 19 weekends. That makes it tough to justify a back hoe purchase in my book.

Just my opinion.

The more digging I do the worse it gets.

Now there are visions of an L2800 or 3400 in my head. I was quoted $16,900 for the B7800, LA402 (FEL) and a MMM. If I switch to an aftermarket RFM, the L's get into the same price range. Larger tractor, larger FEL, same money. Too large for finish mowing? The property is 76 acres, though.

Help me, help me! I'm so confused.
