The E25 is similiar to some Masseys. They use different part #'s so one has to compare parts to be sure they are the same. If a new clutch isn't available ,I can have the clutch rebuilt if the hub is good. I can also supply parts out of Japan. I have parts books for it & the Maseys. sheaftractor@coiinc.com

The entire operation of the machine lugs down when any load is applied, such as mowing normal height grass and suddenly coming into an area of higher grass. I know that some slowdown can be expected with this, but the mower deck will almost come to a complete stop, the engine labors considerably, and the tracor will barely move forward. It did not do this at all when I first got it.

I bought this tractor from an elder gentleman with 700 hours. It was sitting in his garage recently waxed with everything looking great. I never drove it or even stopped to see if anything even worked. It is spot less. I paid him and drove home. He brought it to my house while I was on vacation. Once home I checked out the sight gauge for the hydraulic fluid and none was visable. I added about 1.5 gal of light blue Dryden and now the sight gauge is brown but level is ok. the 3 pt hitch is also jerky up and down. I was praying that maybe dirty and burnt fluid or pluged filter just might be the bad guy. The clutch noise also has a grind to but works well. But my old L2250 still shifts better.

If it freezes there, something other than water is needed. A couple of things I've heard suggest that maybe alternatives other than methanol might be better. I've heard that some tire shops won't work on tires that are methanol filled. There is the possibility of an explosive, or at least flammable, air mixture inside the tire.

Dealers usually don't do their own tire work. It might be a good idea to identify the shop that does tire work in your area and ensure that they'd be happy with what ever is used--including any sealant products. Most areas also are served by a mobile repair service, which is also good to identify. Repairs to loaded tires can be done with the wheel still on the tractor, which is a lot easier than trying to wrestle with a loaded tire. There also are disposal problems with methanol as well as most tire fill.

However, the above problems may be overstated. People do use methanol for tire fill, and a dealer should be expected to make responsible recommendations. It is good to know about potential problems though.

Hey everyone!

Thank You for the information. According to the rating of my truck and the trainer weight there should not be a problem, but who knows. I think my best bet will be to install a receiver hitch and some new tires on my 74 F-250 and call it good.

Much of the quality and manufacting system used by the Japanese is based on work by Demming, an American. Here the quality standards and manufacturing principles, ie just in time manufacturing did not start to be looked at until the Japanese had started to clean house automotively.
Kind of like the VCR, the TV, etc.
What caused the condition? Prejudice and arrogance. We did believe that the Japanese's (Demmings) new system was better, how could it be it was developed by Japanese and there was no way we would change as we had built up a world superpower with the system we developed and what people brought to this country.
Sorry balance of trade figures don't lie, we are in trouble if we don't learn a better way. We can not continue to sell off the country and expect to retain our standard of living.

Thanks for your post Steve. I will check out the site you suggested. I talked to an old country tractor dealership in North Ga. today about the tractor. They told me the 5,500.00 the person is wanting for the tractor with all the implements is a fair/good price. They spoke well of that particular model and said exactly what you stated about it being a great little tractor. Thanks for your advice and time to post your thoughts. I appreciate it!

When we moved to the country, my insurance company required an electrical service upgrade among other things. Storms in the area were keeping contractors busy restoring downed lines etc. I couldn't get a contractor to come to the country to do a service upgrade. New electrical codes would require extensive modification to the house to upgrade the overhead service, and underground is far better for many reasons.

I knew I had to do the work myself and I had about a month to get the trenching done before winter would start closing in. I found my tractor after in less than a week on the phone, and it was the first tractor I looked at. The dealer trucked it three hours to our place for approval. I'm sure he smelled a sure buyer. Anyway, it's amazing how good necessity can make a used tractor look. I did miss the broken off and welded 4wd control leer though. The 4wd linkage broke a year later.

Got the work done and the tractor even turned out to be a pretty good one. However, when buying a used one, it is good to reserve a maintenance budget. There always seems to be a charge for what Roger calls the 'Dread Previous Owner' (DPO). My charge was about $1,500 CAN. Faith! A good deal will happen, and there will be all sorts of learning about tractors in the meantime.

It's good to have a wiring diagram. It may be even better that somebody like Bill is around who also has a diagram.

I just wanted to note that it's a good idea to check for 12V on both sides of a fuse holder. I had some gimpy circuits on my 1710 that proved to be caused by dirty fuse holder contacts. At least I think so because I cleaned them and then everything worked.

Three years ago I was trying to decide between a larger riding mower and a small tractor. I wound up deciding on a new Kubota B7300 with a 54" deck and loader. (cost $12k) It did not take long to realize that I had made a mistake. The tractor was too heavy to cut the lawn without leaving imprints, did not turn tight enough to mow well around the house and trees. It was lacking power steering, weight and traction needed to do much loader work and struggled to pull a 4ft loaded box blade. I had bar/turf tires, again trying to kill two birds with one stone.

I personally believe that if you get the BX you will soon want more "tractor" and will realize you just spent a lot of money for something mainly intended to cut grass and do very light duty chores. Taking the mower deck off and reinstalling it was a pain on the "B7300" and you had to remove it to get any ground clearance to utilize the tractor abilities. I damaged my deck several times by trying to do things with it mounted.....Then learned my lesson..I don't know about the "bx" but have the dealer demonstate the procedure, remembering that you will need a concrete road or drive to do this and will need to store the deck while it is off.

The "L" series is not even in the same league as the "bx" series. The "L" will cost you a time going back behind it mowing with a push mower to hit the spots it cannot reach, unless of course you have nothing to mow around. You have not mentioned the "B" series. Have you seen these?

Personally looking back at my decision, I would suggest that YOU look at the "b7500" for a compact tractor with a loader. This should cost you around 12,500 maximum. Then get an adequate riding mower to do the mowing. You will be able to purchase a nice riding mower for the price of the Kubota mower deck, around $2k. You could also consider the "L" but I believe that it would be too much to mow lawn. It would be great to brushhog and do dirt work. Compare the "L" with the "B". (omitting the "BX") It is like comparing a basic automobile to a luxury one. Decide if you want to shift and clutch or use hydrostat. The hydrostat is very nice. The "B7500" is the lowest price "b" with power steering. I would not consider the "7400" if you intend to use a loader.

Again personally, I have rectified my situation by purchasing a decent riding mower and trading my "B7300" for a new "B2910". So far I have no regrets, only a little more maintenace, and I now have a nice piece of equipment to mow with and an extremely nice and powerful compact tractor to "play" with. I just need more garage space :)

I have a 7275 and its a geat tractor. Your price with all the equipment sure seems fair to me. Just check new prices with all those features and see what you come up with. I'd love to have that heated cab here in MN the last couple days. I have not found parts to be a problem but I only have needed filters etc. Regards PJ

I would check the 3pth control valve, not the lever, the knob under the front of the seat. When this valve is bottomed right out it completely blocks off all fluid coming out of the lift cylinder, the 3pth will go up, but then is locked there. Check it first. Best of luck.
