I have a 2006 HPX with about 1300 hrs that has had many different operators and maintained below par. Recently it has had problems starting, and when it does start, it is very smokey and rough and when the accelerator is stepped on, the engine RPM does not increase. After 20 seconds or so, the smoke clears up and the engine calms down and runs normally until somebody runs it long enough to over heat the thing. I have a good guess of whats going on but I would love some input before I lead anybody down the wrong road of diagnosis.

Not to disagree with either of my friends, but to me it sounds more like either a glow plug or two has burned out or the relay is going.

If it starts right up with a wiff of either, it's getting fuel, it's just not getting the preheat it needs.

If you got much air in the fuel system, and / or the fuel pump drained down, you'll need to prime the system. That or blow the air through the injectors.

If it cranks over fine try starting it with WD-40 (not ether or 'quick start') into the intake past the air filter.

If it will start on that it will only take a few seconds for the fuel to purge the air through the injectors.

Don't be alarmed if you get white smoke while its cranking or a little black smoke as it starts.

We use belt dressing during the cold winter months. Belts tend to slip badly during very cold weather, as the rubber in the belts gets very hard and has no grip.

Belt dressing works well during cold weather on self-propelled snow blowers, gas engine powered grain augers, etc. It is generally not needed when temperatures are above zero.

Yours is not the first. I doubt that it will be the last either. My recommendation to people owning these is to add frames to the rear axle and get more support on to the center section. For what I've seen with a backhoe initial breakage might vary well come in at less then 400 hours. Without about 1,000 hours depending on work.

With a little over 2000hrs on my 2006 Gator I had to replace my starter. We use it every day and start and stop the machine faily often. Was pretty sure it was the solenoid that was not fully engaging, but was able to replace the whole starter with an aftermarket on ebay. The Denso OEM from Deere runs $400. They started carrying an aftermarket themselves which they offer for $150. The ebay item was $75. Comes with a 1 year warranty so we shall see. It comes with the solenoid as well so I figured I'm getting a new solenoid, new brushes, and new clutch for far less if I tried to rebuild the old one. Was easy to replace too. Remove the main 12 volt wire , unplug 12 volt switch and remove two bolts. Took me about 15 minutes.

I am looking at a Massey Ferguson 1155 locally for what seems to be a good price, compared to ones I see on TractorHouse.com. The fellow who has it says that he bought it at an auction and drove it back to his shop about 60 miles. To me, that's a good sign that at least the engine must be OK. Its batteries are dead, but he's charging them so I can hear it run this evening. I've never driven a tractor this big, so I'm not sure about everything to look for. My biggest question is about the transmission...this one doesn't have a regular transmission. From the ones on TractorHouse, it looks like it has the one called Synchro Shift, or Partial Powershift. What can I check to see that it's working correctly? I think that I can figure out which levers control the PTO and 3-point, so I think that I can check them out. I've read and heard that these types of transmissions can be very expensive to fix, so I just want to make sure that I can tell if something is wrong. He already told me that the brakes are weak, but that's something that I'd expect for a 40 year-old tractor...<br>

Try Baldwin Filters, I'm sure they have a website. I used to use a lot of their filters. They have good quality and an unbeliveable amount of the hard to get filters.

I won't attempt to name the exact things they are targeting, whether it be insects or disease, or perhaps both but we see lots of alfalfa being sprayed during the growing season here.
Almost all hay crops here are planted with a cover crop, oats are the main one, very little direct seeding, I've saw that done but a lot of managment is called for. Weeds are the big culprit of dierect seeding, oats tend to choke them out till the legumes get started. I haven't kept up enough to know if they have developed a roundup ready alfala, that would help a lot for direct seeding.

If it's a Chinese loader, I'd say that's a dealer question. But if it's an American aftermarket loader, we might be able to help.

October 7th. This past week I have put in over six hours on the L3240. Almost all of it was using the front end loader. I continue to be amazed with all that one can do with a front end loader (FEL). I am in the process of building up a section on the side of a 30 degree slope so I can install a 10X20 foot dog pen. When I started this project I had no idea that it would take so long, or require the movement of so much dirt. Please do not get me wrong! I am totally enjoying this project. The more that I do with the Kubota L3240, the more I wish that I had not have waited so long to buy one.<br>

Saturday afternoon October 6th I took a break from my current project. I spent most of the afternoon helping a neighbor, and dear friend, fix his drive way. Here in middle Georgia we have been blessed with reasonable rain fall this summer. The only problem is that when it did rain it seemed to just pour down. This has led to unpaved drive ways on hillsides being messed up pretty good. In this case we picked a section out in his pasture and used the all purpose plow to dig up the grass and soften up the dirt, and then hauled bucket after bucket of dirt over to his driveway to fill in the deep ruts that had washed out. <br>

The all purpose plow, that I was fortunate enough to purchase, has been the best single attachment that I think that I have ever bought. I use it every time I go to haul dirt. It has broken up buried tree roots three inches in diameter without any trouble. I will usually go over a section twice using the all purpose plow before I use the FEL. This process has made it so much easier to fill the FEL with dirt.

Thanks guys. Fuel doesn't seem to be getting to the injectors. Problem seems to be in the injector pump. It's actually under warranty and the dealer hasn't been able to fix it yet either, just trying to satisfy my own curiousity
and help them if I can. They think maybe a spring has gone inside or something like that, but it's now the weekend and they won't get back to it until monday. Cheers

Homer check key switch wire to glow plugs my key switch was bad.And have seen wire lose and connectors with corrison at key switch.Good luck.

If it is always like this my guess is linkage issue. No idea if this tractor has any linkage out side of the tranmission or not.

Mike not sure on your question. The "shreader frame" is this on the tractor or an implement?

I think you are asking on an implement and if understand correctly they have pins turned out and in and then the other set up where there are two arms and the lift arms fit between and pins pushed in. No one is right and others wrong, depends on the implement and the tractor.
