There is no frame work to attach the 4 drive to.The only attachment is the 16, 12 mm bolts to the engine block. 40 years ago John Deere tried this. The tractors pulled apart. Also the front end loader is mounted on bracket between
the rear engine block and the rear end with no additional support. The front loader when loaded cause them to sag, eventually you will pull them apart.

Hope you are having fun with the 4100....that is my personal favorite in the 4000 series JDs. I was wondering if it was the brake! At least a couple of times a year I succeed in driving around with the brakes on. That noise is real helpful, but you can't always count on it. As the brakes wear in, they won't make so much noise - sometimes none. On my old pickup truck I put a dash light in to tell me when the emergency brake was on. Guess this would be a good idea on my tractors as well.

Klay, have you seen on Carver's web site, or seen messages he's posted elsewhere, about their server having lost a large quantity of e-mail messages, for which Steve apologizes and asks that those who received no answer (because he never received their e-mails) to repeat their inquiry?

Check your 4 wheel . The bolts will start coming loose , break and as more
hours are put on Tractor. The 12 mm bolts wear out the threads first. These
bolts are not strong enough for the torque placed on it by the use of the 4
drive.

I have heard from several other persons having the problem.

I have five front end weights that were on a JD790. I would like to use them on my Kubota B2710. Is there a bracket or box or something available from either JD or Kubota that goes on the front of the B2710 to hold the weights? Looking for a solution that is cheaper than buying a new set of Kubota weights.

Just got a cub cadet 2130 after years of throwing money at a Craftsman every year for steering parts. The one thing I notice, that is a pain with this, is when mowing, a lot of grass comes out from under the non discharge side of the deck. Is this due to the high lift blades? It is also a mulching unit, though I have not used the plug, as my grass is usually to thick too mulch.<br> Would a skirt of some kind installed along the bottom edge on this side of the deck help? Could the high lift blades be installed backwards/upside down. Like I said it, leaves a mess of clippings in a line, on this side. I usually mow everything to the middle, then pick up clippings with a lawn rake for less time involved on the mower.<br>Thanks for any inpuits!Dale

There is at least one upstate New Yorker, who has a BX with a snow blower, who has posted on http://www.tractorbynet.com. It can easily handle 5 acres mowing. As for the price, looking at Carver Equipment as a good indicator (they have very competitive prices, http://carverequipment.com/), it shows that the same package would cost ($9,995 + $3,238). So the $12k looks good.

My TC29D (hydrostat) has an oil leak coming from a cotter pin that hangs down from a hole that's near the center in the bottom of the transmission. It only leaks a few drops while it's parked, but I don't know how much it's leaking while I'm using it. The tractor only has about 40 hours on it. Has anyone else had this leak?<br>

I know this is an old thread, but the 3ph mount depends on the oem....woods hoes use 1/2 thick steel bars at each 3ph lift corner and run up to the toplink. Therefore, the backhoe could never be lifted - it would only move as much play was in the top link pin.

Also, I have a woods on my cub tractor, it uses the return line from the loader to supply hyd oil, when the return line from the loader is unplugged, there is no oil going to the 3ph lift...weird huh?

I have a "Sunshine" mower manufactured by Modern Mfg. of Beaumont, TX. I'd classify this as a very light duty cutter. After a year of use, the box itself started to come apart at the seams and a local welding shop had to stitch it back together and reinforce it for me. It's lasted for 5 years now, but it was a major rebuild. If I had it to do over again, I'd try to find a heavier-duty unit.

Let me again thank you for being willing to write in this forum. I hope everyone will respect that and understand that responses from folks like you are general and cannot be specific to anyone's precise/personal situation (how's that for a disclaimer). That's what dealers are for, but the breadth of knowledge that only engrs like you can bring to this group is a treasure, Paul.

BTW, my TN90F (NH) has a Cat II hitch and weighs over 6000# but is barely larger than a Boomer.

Could I get you to talk about the 2 numbers most often discussed when it comes to tractor mounted backhoes (after digging depth!)...Bucket force and dipperstick digging force? Which one is most important to the forces exerted back to the tractor? For example the 1050 has a relatively high dipperstick force, but somewhat lower bucket force. A competitor's unit has similar DS force to the 1050, but relatively higher bucket force, and they will not sell it without a subframe for the specific tractor, warning that the oomph of the high forces could result in ruptured bell housings, etc.

Also, which is the most stressful aspect of a tractor-mounted backhoe--transporting it or using it? Experts differ on this as you might know.

I got my tractor back on Saturday. After sitting at the dealer for a week (service department is way behind), it was not making any abnormal noises. The only thing the mechanic could tell me is that it may have got an air bubble in an injector. He told me that usually sounds like a blown rod, but goes away. So the only damage is a week without my tractor which is better than a blown up one!

Bob, yes Hinomoto built these tractors for AC/MF/DA and others. If the engine is the same, ie 2cyl and displacement then should be able to use manifold. You may want to contact the grey market club on Yahoo or better yet the Hinomoto club for some more help. BTW I own a Hino E2304 which crosses to the Massye 1030.

I have 85 hours on my 4300 Hydro. Today, while driving my 4300, slowly moving forward(1,800 rpms), on flat land,..... all of a sudden the rpms jumped up to 2,500 or so, the forward peddle went all the way down and the tractor surged forward going very fast for about 4 seconds and then it went back to moving slowly again, happened 2 times. Anyone have any experience with anything similar to this. Thanks, Ray

Dan, I don't know if someone has designed a different kind of brush cutter, but the rotary cutter is considerably longer than a finish mower due to the fact that it only has one blade spindle, whereas a finish mower usually has 3 short blades, side by side to achieve the same cutting width. It doubt such a cutter could fit under the belly of the tractor.

Sorry, I've used the term "mowing" loosely. I have a 6' Woods rotary cutter (XT172). The quality of cut has been so high that I've starting to call it mowing. When the times comes, and I tame my yard, I'll probably go for a rear mount mower. Maybe a 84" to 90" rear discharge. I've heard people like the mid mount mower, but I want the ease of install and unistall. Plus I did not get the dealer installed mid PTO (not a big deal I assume). If there is any other input I can provide please let me know. I put 3 more hours on mine today, so far I'm loving it.

Be careful backing up. I have a Landpride cutter and have backed into stumps. Bends it pretty badly. Reginald: I grow trees for a living. I have $20 four-foot pines. I also have four foot pines that I mow down. If you would like to dig I'll sell them to you for a dollar each.
