I have a JD4410 ehydro that I ordered with the larger 12.4 x 24 R1 tires. I noticed that JD does not list this size tire as an option on the new 3000 series CUTS. Does anyone know why? I really like this size on my tractor and if I decided to upgrade to a 3720 I would like to get this size R1 as well.

Sounds like we have the same problem. Actually I found out why they call the dogs retreivers. They bring every stick they can find back into the house and chew them up. When I built this house, I made sure there was plenty of ceramic tile just for this reason. Ended up putting down over 1300 SF. Also found the tile keeps them from running full speed. They have their own bedrooms and live like kings. Wish I had their problems.....lol

After reading your post I went to the dealer and looked at the 3520 with the factory cab. Started shaking and asking stupid questions like....how much is it. Got in it and started grinning ear to ear. Loved the heat and A/C, and the filtered cab design. Started coming up with reasons I needed this fabulous tractor. Checked to make sure it would fit in the garage and everything. Then all of the sudden.......I hit the reality brick wall. How am I gonna get this past the finance boss. So I started doing calculations with trade in and such, it really isn't going to cost more.......ha ha. I am very afraid to go back to the dealer at this point. I am afraid I am going to walk (drive) home in a new tractor. Sad thing is, the one I have now works perfect for the situation I have. But I keep seeing myself in this tractor. The salesman knows it too. He has this big smile on his face because he knows it going to happen. Its just a matter of when and if I would survive the tongue thrashing I surely would receive for the next 30 days. But you know what, I can hand 30 days.....hehehehehehe

I haven't seen them select one over the other due to gas. It is mostly the luck of the draw where they start their nests.(depends a lot on where the female overwinters) I have seen them in just about every conceivable area possible. I have had sheds that didn't have them for years and then all of the sudden they show up a couple of years in a row. Then disappear again for years.

JD,

From everything I have seen along with what the dealer tells me, the cab does not stick above ROPS. However, I would question that if you are adding a strobe light. I also told my dealer I didn't want the lights sticking above the cab. Didn't want to have them decapitated by a branch or limb, while I was playing. Got keep saying working, gonna get caught by the boss one day.

Actually I built one this summer. What I did was to drill 18" holes every 8', then pour the slab to include filling the holes then added achor bolts and finished building as a stick built garage. I have to concern over woodrot not termites eating the wood. Termites will eat the pressure treated wood we have today. Been in the pest control business over 20 years now and I see it all the time. Wood that supposedly would not be damaged by the termites. Anytime to have wood in contact with the soil, you are prone to termites.

Anyways, pouring the slab as a monolithic with the 18" holes is more than enough support for the size building you are putting up. Make sure you check with the local building authorities to make sure they are ok with it.

Lastly, by building mine this way I didn't incur more cost, it actually saved me a little. Especially where lumber cost are right now.

Well I have tried the blade thing, but the snow builds up too much around the sides and I need to put the fel on to move it out of the way. So I bought a blower for this year. I have used it twice and love what it does. However, I did get cold and wet. Now I have a Curtis Cab coming and should be installed the 2nd week of December. Just hope we don't keep getting snow until it is installed. The boss at home just keeps shaking her head in amazement that I like to work on it so much......hehehehe

I am curious as to how fast a rate of lift that my 4410 ehydro should have. It seems that it is rather slow regardless of load and engine rpm. Is there an adjustment for lift rate? I know that the drop adjustment works fine.The book says to check the rockshaft filter however my tractor does not have one. Any suggestions?

I have a JD 4410 eHydro with 430 loader;I currently have a 61 in. heavy duty bucket and am considering purchasing a high volume bucket. Question is; will my loader pick up a fully struck high volume bucket with top soil assuming that the tractor is properly balasted? I believe the struck capacity is rated at 15 cu. ft.

Well I live just west of campus, about 5 or 6 miles. Do your remember where the Verhage Cider Farm is? I am right across the street from them. In the woods. Bewteen Stadium and Main, between 4th and 6th streets.

Def beautiful country out here. Away from everything, but within 10 minutes of where I would like to go.

If you haven't seen WMU lately, it has grown unreal in the last 5 or 6 years!

Agentorange I agree with what you said regarding technology advancements. I and an engineer with other 30 years experience in the Defense aerospace business and have seen considerable changes in materials over the years. This plastic thing is just amatter of integrety of product robustness and durability. I understand the pros/cons between metal and plastic but I guess it just that plastic sounds cheap and I have had many bad experiences with it. Thanks for everyones inputs on this subject. I am a quality freek and don't mind paying for it.

Art, you can probably answer this one. Can one install 12.4 x 24 or the next size up on a 3830? I know that sometimes bigger is better however I really want to get a tractor width less than 66.5 inches. I like the HP of the 3830 given the frame size.

Thanks kwschum and Chief for your help. I concern regarding the underbelly is that I plan on doing some work in cutover woods where there is considerable trash and stumps. By the way how does that 430 loader perform? Is it strong enough to lift a full bucket of wet dirt?

Chief, have you ever experienced overheating with the hydro under sustained long periods of lugging such as one might encounter during ploughing or snaking logs. Also how fast can you go?

I have been in a quandry trying to make up my mind over a JD 4410 or a Kubota 3430 or 3830. What made you decide on the 3830?

I had no idea that the question I raised regarding JD quality vs Kubota quality would have sparked such a response. Thanks to all you guys for your comments on this issue. This is so much better than relying on salesmen or brochures for tractor info. I have switched bac and forth between the two as least 4 times now and still no decision. There are things I like about the JD such as Hydraulics and control posistioning, choice of multiple tire sizes and tread width that aren't available with the Kubota. JD cost more. I like the eHydro and control features. I like the Kubota 3 pt lift better. Kubota has all metal hood. Kubota is a bigger tractor given the same HP rating and weighs about 300 more pounds than the JD. For my use the JD is a more compact tractor than the Kubota. I also understand that the JD is a stronger tractor overall. Comparison is for JD 4410 vs Kubota 3430.

I want to buy a 3430 however there are none in my area to be found.The dealer has a 3830 HST which I like but the rear tire size, 14.9 x 24 limits the minimum width to 66". Can smaller tires by put on this model in order to get closer to 60" width?

Art, this is probably one you can answer or anyone who has experience with both models. Would it be better to go with the 3430 hydro over the 3130 hydro to achieve the same power to the ground and PTO as a GST? Where will I see the difference in HP?
