Art, I saw that you carry this line of equipment. A friend I work with is thinking about buying one of these with a mechanical rock rake, and PHD. What kind of experiences have you had with these? I told him about your store but I am not sure logistically if it would be practical to buy from your store and get the unit to TN. I told him I would ask. What kind of shipping cost are we talking about? How do the Deutz diesels hold up to the Yanmars? I did not realize that Deutz went to oil cooling. I remember a long time back they had air & oil cooled diesels. They had a very good reputation back then. Provided the engines hold up, sure would make maintenance alot easier; especially with a 500 hour oil change. I'll bet that must be a monster oil change though. Any info., opinions, and comments you can send my way I would appreciate and from anyone else who has experience with these units. Thanks.

Gehl's are like the guys second favorite in the shop. Mine to, they are what I relate to as a digging machine, they have enough weight to go out and digg in instead of just spinning when trying to get a bucket full. Some Skid steers are what I relate to as pick and carry machines as they do not do well in tight packed soils. Many customers enjoy the foot throttles on the hand control machines. Both engines so far have given us good service. It is hard to put enough hours on them to see if they are 7000 hour or 10,000 our engines but we have not had to rebuild any of them. ....

I guess that begs the question; what is the first favorite skid steer machine? And why? ....

Chief, the Case units run the baby consolidated diesel the our cylinder version of your pickup engine that is real stout for a skid steer in the size you mentioned. We have those machines out in excess of 10,000 hours and still going strong. The Case is an excellent digger just like the Gehl skid steer. The NH is our pick and carry machine. If you are working with pallet forks or loose loads they work fine. The bulk of time the NH is lowest price of the three because if you take it by the pound they are giving you the least. ....

I do recommend driving all to know that it fits the operator. The hand controls are the easiest to learn. and the Gehl and Case offer foot throttle because of the hand controls for speed direction and loader. ....

Well, my friend ended up buying a 6635 with a grapple in addition to the bucket. He is going to trying renting the mechanical rock rake before buying one. Nice machine for $21,000! That Deutz diesel is small but it puts out 80 hp. Huge bucket for a machine that size. He already had his first underwear loss experience while unloading the machine off the trailer. He forgot to remount the bucket and it rolled on to its back counter weight without the counter ballast of the bucket. No damage, just a scratch or two and a change of drawers. ;-) This machine is VERY heavy for its size compared to a tractor. ....

That's a beauty! He will be happy and impressed with the difference in the sizes. One fellow told ne you haven't run a skid steer till you've been over backwards. I thought going over on the nose was exciting enough! Didn't leave a racing stripe anywhere, just maxed out my blood pressure for a second or two. ....

1845C's are hot machines. We've got them out with over 10,000 hours on them with no troubles. The whole series with the little cummins in them have been great units and extemely dependable. They actually changed the whole market from small often over taxed engines to engines with high torque and lots of power. They have been built for many years and that will change the value even though yours is low hours. They built them from 1985 till 2001 so there is quite a spread of years making your request difficult to answer. Does it have the newer Bobcat quick attach? ....
