I'm thinking of purchasing a Erskine 72" front mount blower for my JD1070. The blower seems to to be well contructed, has a sealed transfer case, hyro chute and adjustable skid shoes. Just wondering if anybody has experience with the Erskine line of blowers and how they work, hold up and anything I should be wary of.

We have an Erskine Blower (front mount) I think it is the 60". It is the best blower that we have had. Last year we had to rebuild the rear transfer case from the PTO but other than that we have not had any major problems.

We have it on a 1988 Ford 1720. The problem we have now is that we are considering buying either a 29D or a 33. Does anyone no if there is a conversion kit that converts a rear PTO drive to the mid-mount PTO? The 29D would have the superstear option which is another problem. Any help would be apperciated.

Thanks ....

Gman: My dealer found a conversion for my 1710 so kits are around. The price put me off badly as it was almost as much as the blower. I think the conversions also compromise ground clearance quite a bit and I don't know how easily they dismount. Everything considered I went for a 3ph blower since our drives aren't that long, and besides I like having a loader that can be used without taking off a blower first. ....

yeah, I'm good for the width,my 790 has r-4's and my 60" box scraper is about 1 1/2 inches wider than my outside side walls of the rears measured with a 4 ft pro laser level.
My r-4s are titan 15 x 19.5 however i do not know of the rim offset, I do know that they will not swap for width and things are tight.
Dealer new ,dealer installed. ....

I'm just curious how the ballast box mounts. I think of them as 3ph mounts but so are blowers. Longer 3ph arms probably could be done fairly easily. The load would be further back, which would decrease the lift capacity. Sometimes I've wanted more weight on the rear than a 3ph I was using so something like a large toolbox might be a good idea. However, the weight wouldn't change the tractor's balance much unless it was on the 3ph. Well, or at least as long as the rear wheels were on the ground. ....

I forgot to mention that my snowblower is a FRONT MOUNT and I need about 4 inches extra because the transfer case on the rear pto hits the front of the JD I-MATCH 3 pt ballast box. I use sand in my box and I can adjust the weight. If I find longer arms I can reduce the weight to adjust the set up. ....

Thanks! All clear now and longer arms does sound like a possible solution. There'd still be a downside to longer arms with max loads from implements other than the ballast box. For the most part any problem likely could be managed by carrying weight in the loader. Maybe something to think about is that if the 3ph geometry isn't exactly a parallelogram design then extending the arms probably may make it a little less self-leveling. ....

Hi Art,
I've been wondering if I'm going to run into problems with the 60" myself and wonder if it would be wise to upgrade to 60 to the 72". When I'll be going around curves aren't I going to run out of the tracks?? I have an Econor on order and don’t want to get stuck with something too big or small.
Thanks Brian ....
