LIGHTS AND LIGHTING.

Is there a halogen or LED replacement bulb for the dinky dim automative type taillight bulbs used in the Bx & B Kubota head lights? ?

What about a sealed beam replacement light?
I was also thinking of going with a 55 watt regular fog lite bulb which is a lot brighter than standard tail light or back up light bulbs. Would that work?

What's available in auxiliary & work lights?

I'm going to replace the Valve Caps with Red and Blue TIRE FLIES .

Here is what I did for night use of my snowblower and FEL because the headlights are useless even with halogen bulbs in them. (Which, by the will melt the plastic reflectors and lenses.)

I hope this will not cause a big stink about drilling into the ROPS again. ....

Not sure about the BX, but the bulbs for the 2910 were a bit better than what was stock on the 7800. The 7800 came stock with 15w bulbs, the 2910 bulbs are 23 watt. I changed my headlights to the 2910 set-up. Not sre about your bulbs, but you may be able to switch to the 2910 23w bulbs. It is an improvement.

I also went to halogen work lights, bolted to the ROPS without drilling, for use with the FEL and snow work at night. That makes the biggest difference.

The B7800f model was pre-wired for the rear work lights. You would need to check your model. ....

My BX2230 had ignition-hot plugs under the seat. I used one of these to power the work light relay. (tail light lead for switch) My work lights are 35w NON-hallogen lights. They are plenty bright for a BX.

Remember you are not going fast enough to "outspeed" them, and you have a limited amount of juice from a very small dynamo (stock) or a not-much-bigger optional alternator. ....

Wonder why they use such a poor second rate lighting and electrical system?
This is one of my peeves with my Wards lawn tractor.
My 38 year old Bolens Garden tractor has an automative electrical system with Sealed beam head lights and uses a regular car battery.
No comparison between it and the BX23 or the monkey wards electrical set up.

Ibrown59

you may want to do what i did with my B2400
i got a piece of 21/2 inch by 3/8 in strap metal
(the length is up to you) I then mounted it on top
of my roll bar and had it extend out about 8 inches
to each side I purchased 4 lights from northern
(you could go with halogen if you really need light)
I mounted two forward and 2 backward and direct wired
them all the way to the battery (I dont like cutting
into existing wiring) I put in 3 switches right behind
the seat, one for everything, one for rear, and one
for the forward WOW what a difference! I think these
are 55watt rated bulbs
good luck

doc ....

4 x 55w lights will, I think, quickly over power the OEM charging system (on a BX). That's why I used the 2 x 35w incandecant lights. No, they're not as bright, but, like I said you dont need that much light on a small tractor. In my case, they make plenty enough light to snowblow in at night. (Short days and long nights in Wisconsin during the winter) ....

You could always trade in that orange one and get a green one...I have never have heard about this significant of a lighting problem with a stock Deere. Just a thought...I do know that any brand of CUT that is used frequently at night could use a few extra lights. ....

You could also try white LED lighting. They are super bright and use a lot less power. Tradeoff is cost. It would likely be less expensive to simply upgrade the alternater. ....

I was thinking of adding 1 or 2, 55 watt fog or work lights with separate switches on rotating swivel mounts so that they could be aimed where ever the light was needed.
Any thoughts or Ideas?

Exactly what you are talking about. Can be aimed forward or back. 35 watt rubber housing tractor lights. Way more durable than the automotive "fog" lights. ....

Technically my ROPS is no longer approved because it has been modified. I built ROPS components for C-NH and know that my modification is safe, but I accept the fact that it is modified. This means no warranty on it or it's function.

"I am my own warranty station" concerning the ROPS. Right, Chief? ....

My auxiliary lights are ROPS mounted (without drilling or modifying the ROPS) and gimbal mounted so they can be rotated up-down/ and 180 degrees from front to back. Seemed real usefull when I did it, I have never rotated the lights. They get used for work with the FEL or when plowing snow at night.

2-55watt halogens, plenty of light for what I use them for. ....

I have foldable ROPS, so there are two holes in the hinge assembly. I had clearance enough to use one of the holes for a through bolt, then welded a nut to the light bracket and use the other hole as a "jamb" bolt.

Light bracket is just a piece of 2x2 angle with two holes in one leg, with the nut for the jamb bolt welded over the botton hole, and a single hole in the other leg that the gimbal bolts through.

If you don't have the foldable ROPS with the holes in the hinge assembly, I would recommend a bracket with U-bolts for mounting to the ROPS. I took some pictures over the weekend, I'll try to post soon. ....

Exactly the same, except different. The angle brackets mount to the holes in the front of the ROPS at the folding hinge, and are positioned vertically, so the lights mount to the side outstanding leg of the bracket. My lights are trapezoidal beams, and are also mounted vertically, or long dimension up-down. Other than that, basically the same.

Hopefully I can get the pictures postd this week. A picture is worth a thousand words of mumbling. ....

I mounted 3 tractor lights to the top of my ROPS using rubber electrical tape, large hose clamps and a 1/2" x 2" x 2" steel block. No damage was done to the rops and the lights can be turned 180* back and forward. Ran wiring to under the hood and hooked in a relay to the main lights. ....
