On the bottom right of the hood on my BX 1500, there is a sheel metal cutout with an electrical connector showing. The connector has 2 heavy red wires and a plastic cap. It is not used. Can someone tell me what this is normally used for?
Thanks,
JD

Only speculation..... kubota has a 12 volt motorized directional chute on their snowblower. That might be the power source. ....

For what I have seen I think that is tied to the safety system for shut down. I don't believe it would be a place to be taking power for lites or as Mark suggested rotation of a chute. ....

I checked the connector again and on the plastic cap it says "30 Amp". I still can't figure what this is.

Your joking, right ????? It is an electrical system fuse. See your manual for more details. ....

I know a fuse when I see one and this ain't no fuse!

It looks like a power outlet for something. Doesn't anyone out there with a BX have this? Aren't you curious? This is brand new tractor, so it is not something someone added.

To clarify, it is on the bottom right side of the side hood. Toward the rear of the sheetmetal enclosure, near the battery. There is a semi-circular cutout exposing this connector and it is easily seen from standing beside the tractor. ....

30A? Sounds like a connector for battery charger of aux. lights. Nice feature if you can determine the intended application. Does it switch with the lights? ....

You keep saying a cutout in the metal. Do you mean the half moon cut out for oil filter access ??? The battery is on the operator side of the firewall. In my manual on page 55 is a picture of what I think you are describing. It is listed as a 30 amp slow blow fuse and it looks like a cap on the wires. I fastened it out of my way when I changed oil so I will have to remove the cowl to see it. I will check the service manual when I get back out in the shop ....

I checked the manual and it appears to be a master fuse to the fuse block near the battery. If you remove this "connector" your whole tractor should be without power. ....

OK, I'm a dummy. It appears it is a master fuse of some kind. I've never seen one like it. Sorry for the confusion. And thanks to the board for your help.

Pretty good luck noticing and identifying it without having to find it while troubleshooting an electrical problem. Most tractors have a main fuse and mine has a fusible link. Fusible links are tough since they don't look that different from the wiring. I've looked for mine but haven't found it. I think I know which length of wiring harness it has to be buried in if I ever do need to find it. ....

Yes, I'm really glad to have found this. It may save me much grief someday if everything goes dead. I also think it would be a good way to theft proof my tractor by simply unplugging it when left alone unattended.
