Just bought a new Kubota B7500. When it was delivered to me, it had 3.2 hours on it. Is this high for a new tractor?

My BX22 was delivered this morning with 1.1 hours, honestly can't see why 3 hours would be a problem if the tractor didn't look like it had been used or abused? I now have less than 2 hours and the FEL is pretty scratched up so doesn't seem like it would take much use to show up in other ways besides the hour meter? ....

My new BX22 had just over 2hrs when delivered, had a strong suspicion it was a floor model. Had a hydraulic leak at 12hrs that was easily fixed. Thing runs great quite a worker. good luck with yours. ....

I probably wouldn't have wondered but the tractor transmission seems a bit loud and squealy, which made me wonder if someone else got it and took it back because of that. I will be testing another one soon to compare the noise. ....

They do whine, especially when very new. The engine will take 100 hours or so before it smooths out too.

Actually, now that I think about it, I am not sure if it whines less at 140 hours or I just got used to listening to it. ....

Back to the original question..... all the 3.2 hours indicate is that the key was turned, not necessarily that the engine was running.

If someone in the showroom had turned the key and no one noticed it for awhile that would account for the hours.

To the new tractor owners -

It is NOT uncommon for your tractor to be delivered with a "few" hours showing on the hr meter.

Remember...

a) the delivering dealer has to put it together and test it
b) if you're getting an FEL, the hydraulics have to be run in and be checked and topped off several times before all the air is out of the system and is functioning properly
c) most dealers, after all is complete are proud of their sale, and like to show it off. They typically will finish "building" it, test it in the yard briefly, then drive in to clean it for delivery. After this, they will again start it to remove from the washdown area, and place it close to the show room for all "wanna-be" orange owners to see the "SOLD" tag.

All this run time adds up!

Just leaving the key on on this tractor does not make the hour-meter advance -- I tried it. ....

Wierd! I left my B7500 on for more than ten minutes, no time advance. Anyone else out there know what's going on? Do the BX and the B keep time differently? ....

You could be looking at 2 different methods of hour measurement. If you have the engine RPM/tach type they are cable driven (mechanical) and will not advance without the engine running. If you hour meter is purely electrical in operation it will advance as long as the key is on, and does not depend on RPM or anything, it is an ignition on timer.

The B series is a conventional Kubota unit, throughout the years.

The BX series is an experimental unit as Kubota still does not know what will happen with it, hence the "X".

Thought you guys would get a kick out of that one!

Most all if not all the straight "B" units over time were cable driven hour meters, relative to the engine physically running. If the engine was not running, key on or not, the hour meter did not advance. The BX units, perhaps are actually wired through the ignition system allowing a "more accurate" accounting of total time used. Just my guess.

The 3.2 hours is probably no big deal depending on whether you ordered the tractor or it was a deal stock tractor, installed loader or other impliments, etc. I personally am pretty picky about my stuff and tell new car salesmen & tractor alike that if it has any mileage or hours that I have not approved of; I will refuse the item and we will renegotiate price as used NOT new. If it is a dealer stock item, you take what you get. I have seen too many instances of customers and salesmen abusing equipment and just don't want something someone else may have ragged on or damaged and I get left holding the bag. Just my thoughts. ....
