BX 23 AIR CLEANER BRACKET

At 397 hours mine finally joined the ranks of the Broken Brackets.

Did Kubota ever come out with an up graded replacement bracket?

Is the Bracket a warranty item?

I ground a "flat" on the bottom of the flange that comes off the engine block and re-attached the air cleaner housing with a long hose clamp.

Problem solved. ....

My dealer replaced the bracket with an "updated" version although the change, if any, must be very minor because I could not readily identify it. He also made a modification to the mounting flange. According to him, the mounting flange mod is necessary to prevent the problem from returning. ....

Yes, not one of the best deigns to hold the air cleaner, had to replace mine around 200 hours.
Side ? BX 23 owners. Does your temperature gauge move at all during cold weather? I was not concerned during the summer, as it never hit the first line. However, with my using it more this winter I am afraid that it is not getting warm enough. Now I am not running it hard but I am leaving it run unless not using it for an extended time like lunch breaks or going in to get warmed up. Thinking of putting a wind block in front of the radiator.

Get the engine as warm as the gauge will register, give it a good work out, then carefully open the rad cap and stick a cooking thermometer (the metal ones with a dial gauge) into the coolant and take a direct measurement of the water temperature.

Dashboard gauges are notoriously poor at reading the actual water temperature.

Best of luck. ....

Placement of the air cleaner is not as easy of a design choice as it might seem. If you put it on the engine, as with the older BX designs, you have the obvious problem many of us have experienced. However, mounting it away from the engine means the hose must absorb all the vibration. So you're either going to break a bracket or wear out a hose. At least the Kubota engineers addressed the problem though. ....

rlsmith,

My temp gauge doesn't move hardly at all in cold weather. I guess I have the same question for Murf. If a direct measurement of the coolant temp yields something too low, what is the best way to get the temp up if there is no good way to "give it a good workout"? Higher RPM's? Partially covering the radiator? ....

=====
I was thinking of making one out of spring steel or maybe a heavy rubber bungie strap.
Another Idea is to use rubber fender washers on the bracket mounting bolts.
Another thought is to put a spring on the bolt that is on top of the strap.

Just picked up a new bracket .
Run into a glitch on the warranty aspect .
Kubota has the warranty period for only 12 months instead of 24.
Wonder how much fun that's going to be getting that corrected? ....

Maybe I'm missing something here......

All new Kubota tractors have BOTH a 12 month and 24 month warranty.

The ENTIRE tractor is warrantied for the first 12 months, the "powertrain" is warrantied for a further 12 months, bring the powertrain warranty to a total of 24 months in length.

The air cleaner bracket is not a warranty item under the "powertrain" coverage, so past the first 12 months it's not a freebie.

Best of luck. ....

I picked up the new bracket & strap.===== free of charge at a dealer.
~~~~~~~~~
I Installed it yesterday with a few revisions.
I placed 2 rubber fender washers between the engine block and the bracket and 4 of the washers between the bracket and the strap.
I replaced the metal spacer that goes on top of the strap with a spring instead and locked 2 nuts together in the end of the bolt that clamps the strap together.
The dealer should be able to take care of it for you! I've seen it before and I'll probably see it again although it is a complication. ....
