I am in the market for a small tractor. I can't decide between the JD 2210 or Kubota BX-2200. Can someone please give me some input which one is the better tractor and why? Has anyone had any problems with their JD 2210 and if so, did you have problems with servicing? I have read several complainants about Kubota dealers not having parts in-stock!

If you buy either of these tractors, I'd bet the only parts you will need for the first five or ten years would be filters and fluids.

If you are mowing you might need a belt or a blade sooner or later.... it will not require a warehouse to support your needs and you can buy parts on line from several sources.

The 2210 and the BX are very closely matched in virtually every catagory...... it may come down to which one feels the best under you. ....

I just recently went though the same decision. I went with the 2210 (obviously). There are pro's and con's both ways, but here are the reasons why I went with Deere

1) Better 3PH design (longer links, more ground clearance)
2) Better balanced with FEL (in my opinion)
3) Easy FEL attach/detach (I can do it in under 4 minutes and that is taking my time)
4) I like the FEL SCV location better (I don't have to reach to operate the FEL)
5) Two pedals instead of the one
6) I work for a Deere Supplier
7) Nothing Runs Like a Deere

The only con I have with the 2210 is they do not have a bagger system for it as of yet. I know I could put a kit together with deere parts, but I don't need a bagger yet.

Either machine would be a great tractor. ....

Russell,

I spoke with Jerald on the phone and he was able to locate your price. He gave me a quote of $12,300 with loader and 62" mower. He quoted me 5' box blade for $349. I gave the quote to my dealer here in Houston and he matched it. I feel pretty good about the price. No one else has been close. Thanks for the information. By the way, have you had any problems with the tractor or is there anything you don't like about it? ....

A 5 foot rear blade would be OK on a 2210 or BX, but a 5 foot box scraper might be a bit too much of a good thing. ....

Thanks for the suggestion. I had already spoke with my dealer and he advised that a 4' box scraper would be better than a 5'. I will go with the 4' instead.

Thanks again,

Jeff ....

I have a 5'box blade. I haven't used it heavily yet, but I have no problems with the larger BB.

I love my 2210. The only thing that I've had a problem with is the deck and FEL. The FEL takes a couple of times attaching/detaching before you get comfortable/quick doing so. The first time I detached it, it was a pain to get back on, but that was my fault. The second time it went on with no problems.
The deck wasn't set up quite right (on the height adjustment) when I got it, but I've got that fixed now. After taking care of those two things, I have NO problems whatsoever, except for it's rained too much here and I haven't gotten enough seat time :) ....

Hi Folks - I am finding myself in the same boat - BX2200 vs JD2210? At this point the decision point is falling to the Bagger - for which JD doesn't have one at the momment. I plan on getting the 54" deck (trees to mow around), 47 or 50' snow blower, FEL, etc. I hate to spend $15,000 "hope" that JD comes out with the bagger, so unless someone can confirm JD is coming out with one and when, I'll be forced to go with the Kubota. I've leaned in the JD direction after I drove them both.... I like the pedals, the bucket joystick location, and the overall slight size advantage of the 2210. If anyone can comment on the JD bagger availability, i'd appreciate it (and i am not interested in a 3rd party tow behind solution, i have had great experience with the power-flow technology).
Thanks! ....

Unfortunately, there isn't a bagger officially available at the moment. I have no idea if there is one in the works. However, I'm 90% sure there is a way to piece one together with Deere parts. There is a blower available for the 62C deck that is used on the X-series. Finding a 3 bag system to put on the 3PH should be easy.

You could also use the Hydraulic Dump Power Pak for the 4000 series (I'm 99% that it would work on the 2210 also) but it uses an external 5hp motor)

An option I haven't thought of before now...you might could adapt a Kubota bagger to the Deere. The only difference should be the connection to the deck. Just food for thought. ....

Jweed...go with the 62" deck...it will actually be easier to mow around trees with. It gives you more clearance between the tree and the tractor. Believe me, I know, 7 acres...all wooded. Dang grass keeps growin no matter what I do. ....

I looked at both of theese tractors extensively before decideing on the JD2210. This machine was only a couple dollars more than the Kubota of which this model has a lot of fans. In my area I just could not find a Kubota dealer worth a &*%$% ! I will admit I had to do a LOT of driveing and get outside of the greater Detroit area to find a decent JD dealer. I did have a defective PTO shaft. The dealer was able to get JD to priority ship one from Japan so I was down two weeks but overall I am very satisfied with their service and the tractor I love. The only Real difference to me was the comfort of the controls and ease of use. Ultimately between theese two machines in my minds eye the deceision could be based solely on which has the best dealer in your area. ....

I guess the parts issue with Doc means any manufacturer can get caught! The Deck on the BX looks a lot tougher from what I here especially with the wide belt they use on the BX like there bigger brothers. ....

I certainly dont think you could make a poor choice between theese two. You could probably make it as which you like best, orange or green paint. I know right now Kubota has 0% financeing for three years. This is one of the ones I sure would like to have free reign on for a week or so just for comparison sake. I did recently find a Kuboat dealer but they are nearly two hours away. I like their rideing mowers. ....
