what is the deal on taskmaster tractors? they look to me like a dongfeng. Am I correct? Does anyone know about customer support from a parts standpoint? Around here I have only two options: John Deere or Taskmaster. Talk about two ends of the spectrum. There are other brands further away but because of my heavy community involvement and being in business I want to keep it local. I'm looking at the 26hp with a FEL for $14,900 CDN (roughly $11,400 US).

A number of tractors have been branded TaskMaster over the years, but I'm reasonably sure that you're correct in assuming the current batch are rebadged DFs. While having no personal experience with them, I haven't heard anything overly negative either. Like most recent Chinese tractors, performance and reliability usually parallel that of the selling dealer.

I just saw an advertisement for the 4wd JD790 with JD419 FEL and LX5 rotary cutter for $15.2K, so it stands to reason you should be able to deal a 790/419 down under $14K

Hi Scott

I have never heard of such a beast unless like others have stated maybe an early venture before the current DF units.
I would think twice before bidding as for not much more you can get a newer China tractor maybe not with backhoe for that price but at least you could get parts and have a clue what you have purchased.
Have fun and hope you get what you need .....

MJBMAN, I have a TM 432E that I purchased earlier this year (60 hours so far). Aside from some dealer quality control issues when I first got it, the tractor has done everthing I've asked it to and more. Very strong tractor. As to the parts, not sure what the arrangement is with the individual dealers out there, but I've had no problems with getting parts from my dealer. I beleive my dealer is located at the main headquarters for TM tractors, which is in Oregon.

Hope this helps.

David ....

david,
thanks for the feedback. i live in c.g. so will be dealing with the same outfit. apart from some parts concerns, the feedback has been good.

thanks again,
mike ....

Hi 57210788,

I am a Noriker Dealer near Ottawa Ontario ( a little closer to you than BC )

Our Models are very similar to the TM models, with the exception of some cold weather and other optional equipment which are sold as standard equipment on our Noriker Models.

The models I carry are DFAM Manufactured Tractors.

You will notice right away the difference in the model numbers as TM seems to name according to gross HP and we name according to Net HP.

It looks like the next year models of TM will follow our lead in the naming convention.

Thanks,

Rick ....

I have a 2004 38E Taskmaster with 300 hours on it. I use it to operate a 5 ft bush hog, a 62" rotary tiller, a log splitter (bad idea), a PTO seeder, a 66" bucket, and to pull logs in for firewood (oh yes, to move snow). It has lots of power!! This may well be your best buy in this range.

Oh yes, it has a clutch with a live PTO but I drive standard cars too.

Best bet is to order parts by internet or phone from west coast. Most dealers don't carry many parts. If you can handle 5 days down time, not an issue.

I was not paying attention while tilling field and lost fluid through loose hydraulic connector I had added in parallel to speed/ease attachment connections. Did not know fluid was low (I should put pressure guage on it).
Bucket pump froze up due to lack of fluid. I called and had new pump in hand in 4/5 days (west coast to Maine) with a total cost of $105!! Try that with John Deer. ....

I have a 2005 32 hp. I've got 230 plus hours on it so far, no major problems. Filters seem to be the hassle. I think it is the dealer that has dropped the ball. Where on can I order them online. Thanks. ....
