Cglgfurn,

It is possible that your hydraulic pump is beginning to show signs of wear, but before tearing into it I would consider other possibilities.

First and foremost, be sure that your hydraulic fluid is correct according to factory specs. Oils with very low viscosity numbers (extremely thin oils) will cause problems similar to those you are experiencing. Additionally, contaminated hydraulic fluids will cause many additional problems. (foaming, for example will create all kinds of reduced pressure problems in the system)

Before purchasing a very expensive hydraulic pump, first be sure that your entire hydraulic system is in top operating condition.

1. Clean your sump screen and replace your hydraulic filters.

2. Completely drain and replace your hydraulic fluid.

3.Top off with new hydraulic fluid suitable for use in your tractor.

4.Check for leaks and repair as required.

90% of all hydraulic problems can be resolved by performing these simple maintenance procedures.

Hope this helps.

Joel ....

You may well need a pump but can tell you from experience if water is in the hyd oil will also perform poorly it at all when hot.

To my thinking unless you are certain the hyd oil and filters are clean then you should first do as condoarms suggested. At least drain the hyd oil looking at it for contamination and the filters for their condition. ....
