I'm looking for a place to purchase a air filter for a 1500A. I have no other information on the tractor.

Since it looks like you are in Houston, if you've got the old filter, you can try the NAPA just off the south 610 loop at Long Dr. They have the catalogs and some of the filters in stock. My Shibaura's (P21F) filters all matched the Ford 1520 from the same time period, since the catalogs they had didn't have listings for all the filters under Shibaura (although it did have some !). What they didn't have in stock, they were willing to order in so we could compare them before I had to buy it.
They also said the more rural NAPA's have almost everything in stock (I think they got my additional filters from thier store in Huntsville ?)
There is also a web site with dimensions for tons of tractor air filters, although I no longer have the link.

When I obtained the tractor there was not a air filter in there and I don't even know what it is supposed to look like...thanks I'll try the NAPA and see what happens ....

According to one of the Japanese broker's sites the sd1500 was pre- 1980 and 15 HP (probably at the PTO). Based on tractordata.com the Ford (made by Shibaura) 1200 or 1300 are possible matches (made 1979 - 1982, and 16hp at the engine). Finding an engine number (usually in the format A999, on a tag riveted to the side of the engine) and finding out which Ford used that engine may give you a better start.
