My little sbibaura sd1800 has started pushing coolant out of the overflow. It seems there is some bubbling going on in the radiator also.

CDuster,

I'm all but certain that your tractor has a blown head gasket. The best way to test this theory is to perform a compression check on your engine's cylinders. You'll likely discover that one of your cylinders fails the test.

How would a person go about getting parts for one of these things. It lives way out in the sticks and will have to be repaired by yours truly. Looks easy enough but would be more comfortable with a manual close by.
Thanks for any advise you guys might throw this way.

Also would it hurt to run it some if I do have a blown head gasket as long as it has plenty of anti freeze in it? ....

CDuster,

I, too, live way out in the sticks. I fix most everything under the sun. It helps to have a manual, but in many cases it also helps to have a friend to help out with some of the heavy lifting.

There are many helpful people on this board who will be able to provide you with the proper manuals and parts.

I would suggest that you don't operate the tractor in its present condition. The hot gasses created in a diesel engine can quickly cause metal erosion, which will make it impossible to repair without first surface grinding the head, as well as the engine block.

If you have any animals make sure you have cleaned up the coolant thoroughly. Only takes a tablespoon to kill a dog and they seek it out because it tastes sweet. ....
