I have a Shibaura (with Steiger on grill) that I think is a 34 HP. My problem is that the differential seems to be locked (rear tires dig up ground when turning). The lever on right floorboard was always very hard to move, it still is, but doesn't seem to disengage the differential any more. Any suggestions apperciated.

Don't know the specific tractor, but those are typically spring return - in that a spring inside the rear diff pulls the fork off the spline when the operator releases pressure on the lever. But before you take off the seat and start digging around in the rear end, check the pivot point on the lever itself. They can sometimes get jammed up with grease/dirt/paint, to an extent that the return spring tensions is insufficient to overcome the crud.

I've got a NH TC33D which seems close to size and mfg. as yours. If that last post doesn't help the situtaion you might have bigger problems, such as broken spider gear in the differential. When I bought mine new in 2003 the mechanic showed me a similar machine like mine that had the pinion gear shattered. I was amazed at how small it was---about the size of a chicken egg. Knock on wood, I have been hard on it and no problems after 300 hours. ....
