I have a Satoh 373D and need a Tach Cable. I have located a new one for $67.50 which seems really high. Anyone know where I can get an aftermarket or used one ?

Sure does seem high. I paid around 25$CDN for one for my Ford and thought that was a little steep.
I still call the stuff choke cable and it's pretty generic stuff. If the square ends are reasonably standard maybe your drive and tach mounts could be put onto generic cable. Got to be careful with the drive end if it goes into the timing gear area though. There's potential for loose parts to end up in the oil pan.
I'm not sure how much units cost that are designed for tractors without tach drives but that's another alternative. ....

Tom's idea of a generic cable is a good one but I think you'll have better luck making your own.
Usually it is just the inner cable that snaps, if this is the case then get another piece of inner cable from an inexpensive 'universal type' cable and solder the drive ends from you old cable onto it with Silver solder (it's much harder than lead solder). If you can't get the old ends off, sometimes they're crimped in place, you can usually make a suitable replacement from a short section of small diameter tubing.

I tried to repair the cable with a copper sleeve & JB Weld (both the inner and outer part of the cable were severed) I'll see how that works out and let you know..thanks for the imput ! ....

Just to give you all an update. The cable works (for now) i had to cut the "sheath" in half and cover the break with a rubber tube since the repaired area is larger in diameter than the original tube J.B. Weld works again!! whsiii ....

Always good when barn yard repairs turn out good. Everything used to be put back together with 'hay wire.' Wonder what my parent's generation would have done with JB Weld.
I imagine you greased the inner cable before assembly and it sounds like it might last indefinitely. I wonder why it broke in the first place. I believe mine went because a mechanic removed the console and shoved it out of the way on top of the hood without detaching the cable at the tach. The outer cable windings were spread on one side about where the cable would bend over the hood, and that's where the inner cable broke. ....
